Deer & wild hog with my M1A

There are a couple more pictures I came across while scanning. I killed the buck in Nov 2001 at about 150 yards. I was walking through this field early in the morning when I saw something white flash in front of me. I stopped, looked through the scope and saw this buck eating. He didn't know I was there, and I really couldn't see him with the naked eye. One shot in the offhand position and he dropped.

I shot this boar while walking through the woods in March 2002. I was about 20 yards away when he suddenly got up (I didn't see him until then) and started to trot off. One shot just behind the right shoulder and he dropped.

Both were shot with the Sierra 150 grain SBT gameking. The deer was a pass through. On the pig, the bullet ended up in it's neck. The scope is a Shepherd.

Thanks from Otokiak, MAC702, budster and 9 others

Nice shots and nice rifle.
Wild hogs are getting to be a very serious pest in our part of the country. The strange thing is (inject sarcasm here) that very few of our non-farmes really thought they were a problem when they were destroying farmers crops..(corn, sweet potatoes, et cetera).. BUT, when they started destroying the hunting clubs food plots, eating acorns before the deer could, and rooting up feeders and other areas..... well then the wild hog population is suddenly a problem ... LOL. I guess it all depends on whose ox (or crop) is being gored I guess. Nevertheless, those things reproduce almost as fast as boll weevils and are a lot bigger and destroy more than just cotton.....

Thanks from savage99nc01

Can you comment on your Shepherd scope?

I liked it. It worked like they said it would, and you can zero it with one shot. My only real complaint was that, for me at least, the eye relief was a bit short.

Thanks from Middkid

They are getting to be a serious problem here in Mississippi. State law allows you to hunt them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I have to admit I have thought about some type of FLIR or night scope for shootin' 'em. Then I looked at the prices!

Hog "hunting" videos....

LOL Judo... Just saw one the other day (youtube) that the guy put out about 5 Lbs of Tannerite and then baited all around it. He let the hogs come in (there were 4 or 5 as I recall) and then one shot KABOOM!

Hog parts went flying everywhere. I LoL'ed
