I purchased one of the green spot lights for night time hunting. The colored light does not spook the animals. I've only used it once but it worked great. I have some pigs coming at night to my deer feeders so I'm making plans for another night hunt soon.

You might not have to leave your state. An quick online search shows they're in the southeast and moving. Good luck.

Yet...Wild hogs have been sighted in SW and W Indiana. Come on down, SE FL. is crawling with them.

Hi Everyone - second post for 2015 - 2016 (post 31 was my first).

At about 08:00 on November 7th - with the wind at my back I had a nice 3-4 year old doe try to sneak by me coming from my 06:00. At one point she was 15 yards from me and all I could do was freeze in my stand and hope she could not wind me. Eventually she moved out to my left at about 40 yards stopped and gave me a good shoot. I slowly positioned my M14 and got the BDC cross hairs on her and squeezed the shot off calmly!

JRA #148 went 2 for 2 as the kill was swift and decisive! The rifle performed perfectly and my Big Red Hardened Stock continues to perform and hold up perfectly in the field. The load was Nosler Ballistic Tip 165 Grain over 42 grains of H4895.

A few Pics - Enjoy -> M1Army

Back in the stand for the evening hunt now!

Tony - Your videos and training taught me to assemble that rifle! The least I can do is make the shot!

Thanks for your help and all you have helped here on the forum with your great videos!

Well, opening day closed with several animals but not 'the big one'. Have fun watching a raccoon wander for a good while though. Rained heavily this morning and cold this evening. Daughter and I will try again tomorrow.

Hunting with Socom

Last weekend was able to get my first hunt in 10 years, been busy with life school, and kids, you all know how it is. Just in time I went out and bought a nice little scope Aim Point 1.5 - 4 power scope for $100. After I bought it and liked how I mounted it on the rifle, thought man there is no way it will hold a zero for such a cheap scope. After 80 rounds, sighting in scope, then irons, then fun shooting with scope again, no issues whats so ever with this scope, for $100 bucks it was 100% worth it. Now gotta get a better stock with a cheek riser, I have a few ideas, and honestly will probably hunt less with this rifle in the future, but here is a set up, results, and deer I got after all said and done.

Sorry deer pic and rifle is a little fuzzy.

10 pt rack, close shot at 25 meters away.
