We can hunt wild hogs all year with no limit on how many you can kill. We also don't need tags. Our department of conservation frowns on using flashlights at night so I usually hunt on nights when there is a full moon, or close to it. I use scopes and red dot sights. I hunt open fields with short grass. Most of my kills have been on property that is next to a river like the Big Piney, my other kills were on a farm that had a lot of ponds. Most of my kills were in the first few hours after darkness.

This is one I killed at night with an AR15 in 5.56mm. He was heavy enough that I couldn't drag him. The bullet was the Sierra 65 grain SBT.

My son shot this sow with his M1A. When we cut her open, there were four perfectly formed piglets in her, so we think she was very close to giving birth.

Thanks from Otokiak and 4th award expert

How did they taste. How did you cook the pig

They tasted great, a very mild flavor. We ate every one that my son and I recovered. We took them to a local butcher who charged $65.00 a pig, no matter the size. We had some turned into bratwurst, breakfast sausage, smoked hams, etc.

These are some bratwurst that came from the boar in the picture I posted above this post.

YA!!!

I just put my M1a together with a Brookfield mount, worne rings and nice Vortex scope for hunting and shooting fun.

She is a shooter buddy!

I can't wait to put some deer down with her this year and a bonus would be a boar as well, although we don't see a lot of wild boar in N/E Missouri.

I wish.

Been getting the lease set up all summer with stands, food plots and the cameras in place, dialed in my bow, zeroed my new Leupold scout scope on my '94 and cast a bunch of bullets for it as well. Zeroed the Zeiss on my Model 70 .270 with a good supply of ammo made for it and then destroyed my wrist early September that required surgery, an 'external fixator' that still has another 3-4 weeks before it gets unscrewed from my arm and then who knows how long for therapy after that.

Needless to say...

I am completely bummed about this season and at best may get some late gun season in but in the meantime I'll keep watching every hunting show on TV, working my ass off in therapy and hoping to see some good pictures in this thread from a lot of you guys.

Thanks from JoshN and locotonyf

So far it's still bow season down here in North Texas. I did manage to do some fouling shots verifying irons were still on @ 200yds. I'm gonna prob use this Remington 165gr 'Accutip' stuff I've got laying around. Wind was nasty enough today that it blew my spotting scope over and actually even broke the mount but really, that's not necessarily bad to see what these rnds will do on a crap day.

Thanks! I've got tags for elk, but no time. I might be traveling soon too.
