Springfield Armory M1A, Low 4xxx serial number. Built 1970's. National Match parts. Glass bedded. Unitized gas system. Spare unitized hand-guards supplied at time of purchase. Purchased from original owner (USMC) in 1991 with original Bill of Sale including the order and sales invoice from the California dealer. The rifle came with 10 USGI magazines, the pictured sling, a custom made leather lined zippered case with the USMC Globe and Anchor cut into the leather along with the rifle's serial number. A manilla folder with 15+ years of load data (Powder, case, charge, projectile, date, temperature, range, etc...) was on each target shot and included in the folder. Two spare trigger groups. The seller included several range books from California based rifle matches dated in the 1970's and early 1980's.
The rifle is glass bedded very well and it's a bear to break it down. The flash hider has been reamed to NM spec's.
Along with a few other odds and ends. This is one of the M1A's in my collection. Just decided to take a few photos of it the other night and share. I haven't shot it since leaving Texas in 2006.
For this rifle and all the other stuff I paid the seller his asking price of $850.00 which included shipping from California to my Texas dealer.
The rifle is a tack driver. It shoots Swedish Ball near MOA at 200 yards. Still one of my favorite shooters when I get to shoot it.
The serial number has been photoshopped past the 4,.
