HYBRID ..w/US NAVY MATCH BARREL

Now....Lets see if I can get these on ....
This was my creation...I know Italy made the BM59..but this is my own creation...built to show someone that it "can" be done... I used it in a LEG MATCH..but was told ..since it was not an "ISSUE" Weapon..I couild not use it.. Shame..was punching all X's and 10's..
Didn't matter-- I won the State Championship anyway...

New to me LRB M14SA
LRB Criterion Chrome Lined Barrel
TRW Bolt
H&R op rod and trigger group
Winchester Western "Big Red" W-W 11010263 marked stock

Interesting receiver as the JVP SEYMOUR CT roll mark was apparently left off by the manufacturer JVP

Thanks from bigblock, jkh62, hammonje and 3 others

Thanks

I was pretty pleased with the way the stock turned out.
I did not want a high gloss finish, not a matte finish either, I was shooting for something in between.

The stock was NOS and when I started it had never been touched.
Looked and smelled like it had been in an attic for 40 years.

I did not sand any of the original blemishes out or re-stain it.

Started by lightly going over the whole thing with fine steel wool and then applying 9 coats of 100% pure tung oil with 48 - 60 hours in between coats drying under a fan.

Light steel wool knock down every other coat.

Pure tung oil takes a while to dry / cure.

Thinned the first couple coats with 50 / 50 citrus solvent.
