Yup you got a smoking deal! I have two of them. Great case but they become a PITA going to the range with them. WHen I do take it to the range I usually place two rifles in the case. Dam thing weighs about 55 lbs. Thank god it comes with wheels. LOL.

Very good deal. Mine's smaller and cost $20 more. I went a little different route on the interior, what can I say, I'm lazy.

Don't be, you don't have to carry it. Like 82nd said, thank God it has wheels... and thank God the drag bag has shoulder straps.

I did a fancy cut out when I had my old M1A in a McMillan M3A, you gotta really plan it out. I think within two months I got a new foam set since I changed things. With the new rifle setup, because I went to the shorter barrel I was able to get away with using the 1720, which the Eagle HSRC LE 44 fits perfectly, the foam set is under my bed still. My M1 Garand is in the old 1750 now. I was too lazy to cut it too, I have two old lid egg crate layers in it that lock the rifle and bayonet in place.

Here in the People's Republic of California I have to transport in a hard case. I own a pickup and can't get caught with an unlocked firearm within 1500 feet of a school. (FGFZ and California law).

Which sucks cause I just bought the Voodoo tactical drag bag and mat and can't use it to transport my M!A.

That doesn't sound right. From the attorney general's front page:

http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/travel.php
Quote:
SHOTGUNS AND RIFLES
Nonconcealable firearms (rifles and shotguns) are not generally covered within the provisions of California Penal Code section 12025 and therefore are not required to be transported in a locked container. However, as with any firearm, nonconcealable firearms must be unloaded while they are being transported. A rifle or shotgun that is defined as an assault weapon pursuant to Penal Code 12276 or 12276.1 must be transported in accordance with Penal Code section 12026.1.

REGISTERED ASSAULT WEAPONS
California Penal Code section 12285(c)(7) requires that registered assault weapons may be transported only between specified locations and must be unloaded and in a locked container when transported.
M14/M1A/etc unless you modified the stock so it's "assualt" and then registered it, you can carry it however you like. Or there's a hell of a lot of us lawbreakers at the shooting range (not inconceivable, but we do share the range with LEOs).

You're right about the Cal Penal code. Their restriction is that a handgun (any concealable blah blah blah) must be in a hard case within school zone.

Federal GFSZ is the one that covers "any firearm". I was covering my bases on both. Driving a pickup full of guns in this state is a real challenge!

The link explains both. Both laws suck but what can you do...
