Springfield 6x40 Government Model 7.62 scope

Is this a decent scope reliability-wise? I picked it up a few years back, and am now getting around to the logistics of mounting it.

How does it stack up against other scopes? Is it durable?

Let's just say there's a reason SA Inc. is no longer in the optics business. Since you have it go ahead and run it but I've heard of a lot of them self destructing.

I've owned a few SAI scopes over the years. The 6x42 is a very decent scope, but the variables can be "twitchy". But they are covered by the lifetime SAI warranty.

The orig SAI scopes were made by Hakko in Japan. Hakko has been the company behind many other name brand scopes.

Think it was 1999 when I got my M1A. It was one of the "loaded" models and came with a coupon to purchase a Springfield government 6X40 scope at a discount. I figured why not and ordered one. Talk about a disappointment. The scope was a POS. The first thing I noticed was the the reticle was askew and hardly resembled anything like crosshairs. Immediately sent it back for a refund. That little incident and others have since taught me to go with quality glass. I generally stick to Leupold these days.
