Bassett Tool and Machine Scope Mounts

I am in the process of testing several of Bill Bassett's exceptional scope mounts. They are not as well known as others but offer light weight, one point mount that doesn't shoot loose, return to zero after reinstallation, and line up over center of bore. Because so many have asked for picatinney rail type mounts, Bill is having me test his new prototype rail top mount. This stuff is simple, not expensive, and very well made. I recommend that anyone interested in glass on an M1A or M14 give him a call or try his website. A champion bench rest shooter, top machinist and former member of uncle sam's misguided children, he speaks the truth and will help you out. Here are some pics with the plain white prototype and the other mounts he makes, low and high standards.

Bassett Website

His website is www.bassettmachine.com and his email is info@bassettmachine.com. The prototype is not shown on his website right now but there is lots of good information there. He is mentioned in Lee Emerson's book and his mounts have been around since 1979-80. The people who have used them, seem to like them and I have used them several times before. The new prototype is very nice and while the one (original first prototype) you see has some changes from the original that he asked me to make myself, the next set of prototypes are in the milling machine now and will be out shortly. Then, I'm sure he will go into production. He told me he is discontinuing the low standard mount which is the one shown on one of my M1A's with a Leupold VX II, 4-12 x 40AO. I like it a lot but it doesn't have any moa machined into it. The high and the prototype have 15 MOA machined in for long range.
