I have a Leupold VX Patrol that works well. Mine has the firedot reticle but, I am sure you can get one without that reticle. The magnification is 1.25 x 4 x 24. Any of the scout optics will do. If I had a complaint of my VX its the bottom magnification. It would be nice if it were a true 1 x. That way if I wanted to co witnes irons it would work.

There was a nice luepold scout scope in the PX. Burris makes a good one, as far as rings IMO I would use quick release ones from leupold but any quality brand would be fine. Hard to suggest a height until we figure out what scope you want.... Didn't take you long to get a second one. Lol

Low leupold qrw rings worked well on the factory scout rails. I used a leupold vx-ii 1.5-4x with mine.

Welcome to the forum and Happy Shooting, I removed my Picatinny rail, I like open sights less to go wrong.

I don't have any personal experience with the Leopold but it has great reviews and I'm sure its a great scope. I have/had the Vortex on my Scout Squad and a buddy has the Burris on his Socom which I shoot almost as much as my scout.

The Vortex is a great scope, especially for the money. The Burris might be slightly clearer but it is 3x the price. The one thing I like more about the Burris is the purple hue of the glass, its beautiful.

I went with 1" low Vortex rings and they seemed to be fine. My buddy has a quick disconnect mount on the forward rail of his Socom but it puts the glass a bit higher. The low rings gave me a perfect sight picture but his socom setup is nice because you can instantly pop off the scope and shoot open sights.

I'd stay away from leatherwood scopes as they are kind of chintzy.

Shameless plug; I have my Vortex Scout scope for sale here on the forum. It worked great but I just ordered a Bassett mount and will pick up a 1-6x scope.
