Not QUITE what I'm looking for...

While the Primary Arms 1-8x is still lingering in my brain as the best option with the quick target acquisition concept at 1x still - the consensus amongst the familial hunters and others locally I've been talking to keep saying the 2.5-10 or such is the best all around scope for CO / WY deer & elk... that little bit of zoom at base goes a long way according to them...

So while I'm keeping the PA 1-8 in the mix as a if not THE top contender - this, I feel, is my final list I will pick from / pull the trigger on one of these very soon (as soon as the refund posts possibly). Some of these I am looking at are used, at pretty smoking deals, but most are NIB, with my price point being basically $100, MAYBE for a crazy deal I'd go $150 over what I am getting in a refund for the ATN so as not to freak my wife out I'm going batcrap crazy on my expenditures. All carry 4.5-5 star ratings everywhere I could find them (Optics Planet, Primary Arms, Amazon, etc.) with the exception of that Minox which I can't seem to really find much of anything anywhere anymore:

Primary Arms 1-8x ACSS reticle (I'm told they've changed the ACSS reticle to the same one as their Platinum line, but haven't gotten external confirmation of that)

Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x 42mm (DOA600 reticle) w/ Rainguard

Trijicon AccuPoint 2.5-10x56mm (BAC Triangle Post reticle)

Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32mm (MOA reticle)

Trijicon AccuPower 2.5-10x56mm (all 3 reticles are available readily)

Weaver Classic Extreme 2.5-10x56mm German 4A reticle

I also have a line on a still NIB Minox ZA5 HD 2-10x50 with BDC600 reticle - but as I mentioned, I am having a lot of problems finding anything out about these scopes as far as consistency in quality, how the warranty would work, etc. as well as previous owner ratings.

I came across a few screaming deals on some Burris Eliminator 1 series, even a 2 series (used) that WOULD theoretically be in contention --- but I feel with the ATN thing, I got burned on that by Parks & Wildlife. I'm not sure I want to risk anything that has a build in Ballistics Calculator only to find out on the phone they're okay with it but on paper they aren't (again).

Thanks from mic52

Sadly I'm neither.

I had one on an AR and like it a lot although it's a bit small field of view and since it is FFP the reticule is tiny below 4-5X. The SWFA 3-9 should also be on your list.

Recently got one of these for my tikka 308 project and it's been great although the elevation knob is kinda funny looking:

I just picked up a viper PST 2.5-10x 32 moa Brand newfor $599 shipped, off a reputable company through amazon. Being as how this is discontinued I figured the lifetime guarantee would be the way to go. Mounted it on my M25 and I really like it a lot. Hard to beat for the money.

Sadly the LRP series is a bit out of my price point, and I've been told pretty squarely anything above 3x as a starting point is too much in CO (hence 3-9x being the best sellers in CO apparently). It was on my radar, briefly, but just that... briefly.

The Viper PST 2.5 has come in with a LOT of recommendations to me over the course of the last couple of weeks. I had no idea it was being discontinued though. Is there any word of what it is being replaced with? A newer version? Better objective lens size? Something like that?

Well if you are on a budget hopefully it was SWFA or Vortex

I am definitely on a budget... basically with the spousal looking over my shoulder I was determined to not spend more than I spent on the ATN,... so basically $550, but MIGHT have been able to stretch to $700 with some finagling and such... albeit highly unlikely.

But lucky for me, some serious crazy luck... better than the deal I got on my ATN by far I'd say, I managed to spend LESS than I spent on the aforementioned screaming deal I got on my ATN once returned and credited back to my CC,... and ended up with one of these for basically half off:

https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/produ...3.php?pid=TR22

I was about a stone's throw from ordering the Primary Arms 1-8 ACSS... probably will for my son's .308 I'm getting him... but this was a deal I could not pass up!

Now I just need to get it ... get some good rings... figure out why the stripper clip guide point piece from Springfield Armory won't feed into said guide point for the Gen III mount I am going to be using (I think it needs a little dremmel shaving), get it mounted up... resight in the irons, sight in the scope... and call it done and done!

Thanks from M1aInSWPA

Accupoints are great scopes and even better if you get it for a great price. Hope you like the post reticle and make sure you practice all your holdovers if it is for long range hunting.

I can't imagine hunting anything beyond 400 yards at this point based on conversations with family and co-workers who are telling me to be ready for irons at the 25-50 range and to never take a shot beyond 400, let alone 300 most likely.

I need to learn the whole holdover thing, especially with this reticle... I mean I have the LRF and the BC app for clicks adjustment based on range, bullet and environmental conditions - but obviously in the field with a target in my sights that might move any second - I might not have time for all that.
