Schmidt & Bender 10x42 PM-II?

Hi guys,
I bought another LRB and also ordered a new Schmidt & Bender 10x42 PM-II FIXED power scope.

My reasoning is:
  • I only shoot from 75~300 yards
  • I usually shoot at 6 power and wish I had a bit more.
  • I like the 30mm tube diameter and low profile dimensions on the S&B
  • I've been told that FIXED power optics are a bit more rugged.
  • Oh yeah...I heard the S&B has pretty good glass too!

So my Philosophy-Of-Use (P.O.U) is aim and fire 7.62x51mm at steel, paper, and other objects.....mostly in the 100~200 yard range 90% of the time.
(I won't be kicking any doors in with this rifle)

PS: I will probably use these Badger Rings:
30 MM USMC DMR SCOPE RING (1.031")

Any advice on this set-up?

I looked at Spuhr Rings and Mounts....but will probably go Badger (STEEL) instead.

Doubt you could do any better for both the optics and the rifle you have selected, well done.

I too was looking at Schmidt & Benderoptics for m14 build... quality optics... I'm for sure going with the badger rings.

Great choice....

If you don't like it you can send them my way, I will find a good home for that glass.

I finally got my S & B PM II, I like it a bit better than my U.S. Optics, I went with higher power/adjustable because I want to shoot long range, but you will appreciate the quality and it should be perfect for your range needs, I love mine.

That scope is junk.
I'll do you a favor and trade you straight up for my Bushnell Elite Tactical.
I wouldn't want you to hurt your eyesight.

BTW Which reticle did you go with?

I'm curious as to where you found a 10x? I thought those were either really hard to find or flat out discontinued.

Here is the page on this exact scope...
http://www.schmidtundbender.de/en/pr.../10x42-pm.html

It only comes with MilDot-P3 - Also, 1 click = 1 cm at 100m

Which model did you get?
I "was" considering a 3-12x50 PM-II-LP....and MIGHT buy one sometime....
http://www.schmidtundbender.de/en/pr...0-pm-iilp.html

However, I wanted to keep it simpler I guess...for reasons stated earlier.
Also, I shoot with an ex-Army Sniper....
He LOVES M14's and 10 Power Fixed Scopes and talking for hours with him about it, seemed to make sense for my limited needs.

I have also been considering the 1.5-8x26-Short-Dot....looks pretty nice...

The Schmidt & Bender 10x42 would be my pick for long range accuracy and reliability, the $2000.00 price tag slows me down a little though.

It's one of the best out there!

Good on you and if it's in the budget, great; but I do have to ask, "At that distance, why not irons"? For the cash you spent on your optics that could be another M1A! Double the fun!

I called S&B in Claremont, New Hampshire and they just got a new load of these in. Lisa said they have them all the time....

I should have it tomorrow.

THAT is a GREAT question!

I have two wooden LRB's (below) that I use for that....
Even though the pictures show scopes, I shoot them a lot with Iron-Sights...
This latest purchase will be used from the bench....plus my eyes aren't getting any clearer.

I got the 5-25x56mm PM II mil-dot. I wanted more power than the scope I have now, I do some long range shooting and I'm thinking about going to a sniper school late in the year so I wanted at least 25x.
