Nikon Prostaff 7 2.5-10x scopes?

Nikon Prostaff 7 2.5-10x scopes?

Anyone have any experience with these or any decent Nikon scope on an M1 A?

My questions are if so, then how have they held up to the recoil?

I'm just wondering what the durability of these are or what I just be better off getting a super sniper 10x for now?

I have an old Prostaff ( $200 model ) since 2010 and worked great on my M1A.
It is a 4-12x40

Thanks from gman556

Not quite the same model, but I have two 3-9x 40mm Prostaff BDCs from 2008. One on my Springfield, the other on my Fulton. Both scopes have survived over 3000 rounds with no problems. BTW, both are on Bassett low mounts.

I used a pro staff 3-9x40 ($150.00) for several years and had no issues with it .
Recently changed to vortex viper as I think the glass is a little brighter. But the pro staff was a fine scope, for me.

Thanks from gman556

Man, Trust me, you will have no need to worry about Nikon's PROSTAFF 7 and it's 30mm tube handling the recoil of your M1A. Nikon scopes come with a No Fault Policy so that just in case something does happen you will be taken care of correctly. Heck, drop your rifle and break your scope, you are covered!
I just recently picked up a PROSTAFF 7 3-12 BDC for a bolt action .308 that I have. It should be quite a tack driver. I may even get a Custom Turret once I get a chance ot Chrono some ammo.

Thanks from gman556 and hooter56

I have several different Nikon Prostaff's. One is a 4X12 on a Rem. 700 .308 Bolt Gun, others on AR platforms and another on a Rem. 700 .223 Bolt Gun. All work great and I have had no problems with any of them.

Thanks again for all the replies everyone.

I spent $900 on a Leupold Mark 4 2.5-8x36 and a little over $700 on a vortex PST 6-24x50 and I still needed to scope my M1A and another AR, and no way could I have spent that amount on two more optics each!

Well...................... not that I couldn'tBut it would not be in my best financial interest. We all know what kind of toll the addiction to this hobby can take on our wallets

Just got a smoking deal from optics planet on the Nikon Prostaff 7 2.5-10x42 and the Nikon M223 1.5-6x24 illuminated BDC reticle.

Saved about $125 on both with the discount I got from them.

Both have 30mm tubes.

Glad to see some post from some members here who have had them on their M1A-S for a period time with no breakage.

I have used a Nikon 3x9 BDC for years on my Savage bolt 30.06 with 180 grain loads for hunting it feels much more vilolent than the recoil on my SAI Standard.

I bought a 3x9 BDC last fall on sale and used a UTG mount (let the flaming begin) I found on Amazon for my hunting rig last deer season which worked well, I checked zero a couple times during the season and it was still fine.

Nikon offers a life time warranty for which I have never had to use.

Vortex makes great optics and you certainly can't go wrong if you choose to spend more money the tech support is great.

Nikon make some decent optics for the money. IMO they are the best "Low endish" Scopes money can buy under the 500$ area.
