thank's
I bet they sell twice as many low Bassett mounts as high. Your ring height is determined by your scope diameter. Medium rings work for a 40mm, but anything much larger would probably need high rings. IMHO, buy a German scope with Schott glass.

Your Objective lense bellhousing diameter will dictate your Ring Height requirement. I found with this set-up, the MED rings were too high (but they did not offer Leupold PRW 30mm in LOW option). Additionally, I found that the RAIL mating to the BASSETT mount is closer to a WEAVER type rail than Picatinny (there are some subtle differences, and although the RINGS state they are compatible with both, I found the gaps after fully locking the clamps down were not to my satisfaction. Although the Rings themselves were solid steel and rock solid, if not fully mated to the RAIL, all that extra weight was for naught. Some more digging on forums like this & I saw that Weaver style mounts were the ones reccommended by Bill Bassett. I ended up with some really nice (at half the cost) Weaver Optics 'Tactical' mounts product code 48355 (which means they look tacti-cool, and are machined with grooves and stuff to save weight- but will collect dirt & crud, which i was not overjoyed about). However, i am pleased that they keep this scope solidly mounted on my M305, and even though they are aluminum they are robust as well as being lightweight, and give good engagement on the Bassett's weaver rail. I have put about 300 rnds through it with this scope/mount combo so far, & even R&R the Bassett mount a few times, with no significant change in POI.
Thank you for your valuable information, so the rings "WEAVER TACTICAL LOW" could match with a 10 x 40 ? (Ah I would like a LEUPOLD MARK IV ...)

French Ranger, I have experience with the Redfield TAC scope, it works very well. I have one on an LRB M14 and an AR15, no problems at all. The scopes track very well, glass is nice and looks good on the rifles.

If you want a 30mm scope, for the money it is very hard to beat a Super Sniper scope from SWFA.

Bassett mounts are excellent, been using them off and on for over ten years.

Thanks from XM25Ren and French Ranger

What are you going to use it for? Hunting? Close or long range? Are you going to mount it on a m1a? You can look at the optics forum on this sight and read for weeks.

Here is my rifle with the mount and riflescope, I chose the BASSET mount high, a LEUPOLD VX3I 4,5 - 14 x 40 30 mm CDS and LEUPOLD QRW down
It's kind of nice, is not it? Finally, I like
I thank the members of the M14 forum who have kindly helped me with their advice
I also thank the company BASSET MACHINE and the company RIFLESCOPE for the quality of their services

You need a bradley adjustable cheek rest. Or any cheek rest. I have used a bandage and socks.
