New mount from the M14.CA design team ...

As a consultant to M14.CA, I throw out a lot of "innovative" ( aka ... weird, radical, and possibly, potentially, maybe, someday, ?WONDERFUL?) ideas and raw " concepts" for M14.CA to consider. One of the first of my design concepts that went from a napkin doodle drawing over lunch, to a final commercially viable product, was the original CASM M14 scope mount. This M14 dedicated TOP mount was, at the time, considered quite "radical" and "innovative", ( aka ... ?weird?) because it did not rely on the traditional left side of the M14 receiver for a mounting point.

Then, after two and a half years of R&D and stringent design testing, we finally brought the Blackfeather alloy M14 chassis to market.

That is proven HISTORY.
But
That was then and this is now.

That original CASM Gen 1 mount was so solid a concept, that it became the foundation for several other M14 top mounts now successfully marked by M14.CA. Today, there are now thousands of these M14.CA TOP mounts out there, with years of reliable and trouble free service. As for the Blackfeather chassis system, it also has proven itself as a strong competitor against other available choices.

As for the future ...
Welllll ...
a while back ...
Frank, the owner of M14.CA,
mentioned to me that he wanted to get into the AR 15 accessory market.

And I suggested an " innovative" AR 15 CANTILEVER scope mount. It had to be "innovative" because the AR15 scope mount market is pretty well saturated with products from "Gawdawful cheap" to "Unbelievably expensive". So our AR 15 Cantilever mount would have to be pretty special to stand out in this crowded market.

Napkin drawings were produced, design team meetings were held, several prototypes were developed, and eventually, a final HIGH QUALITY Cantilever mount was created that truly is INNOVATIVE. This mount is ultra light, MODULAR, ADJUSTABLE, and STRONG. And, with more versatility and other desireable features than most of the competition, it is priced about mid way in the pack.

In other words, it is a GREAT VALUE!

Take a look at Frank's new website,

http://www.ar-15.ca

And decide for yourself if this mount will work for your CANTILEVER mount requirements.

PS: this is the first of our AR rifle accessories.
It won't be the last.
And while we are still developing more innovative and cost effective accessories for the M14 and T97 rifles, we are now also working on AR accessories as well.

Enjoy ...

I am sorry Lazerus2000 but I am not an AR fan at all. I don't own one and don't plan to. However it is a good idea though and I am sure it will sell. Like the CASM that I own two of.

AHHHhhh but ...
The mount can bolt up to ANY picatinny spec rail.

Most optics mounting problems do not require all the features built into this new mount ( eg: cantilever usually is required only to move eye relief forward on the very short AR 15 flat top receivers) however I might use it on top of an M14.CA Long Sight Plane combination mount/handguard.

I am sure many other non-AR systems are out there where this incredibly versatile mount might fit.
I am looking forward to discovering some of the many places where imaginative end users might find this mount to be a good solution.

looks like a Spuhr mount. I like how you made the rings independent of the mount itself. looks like a solid design, especially from a manufacturing point of view!

We have been using the Leupold MK2 IMS. Your design appears quite rugged and allowing more forward mounting. Very nice.

I really like the modular design of that unit! The one thing I would look for was a throw lever quick detach system for the mount to the rifle. So in the event of an Optics failure in the field the mount could be removed (with out tools) for access to backup iron sights.

We plan to offer a version of this mount with Quick Release ...
Eventually.

After a lot of discussion, we decided to concentrate on STRENGTH and ACCURACY and SIMPLICITY and LIGHTNESS over convenience. I am a big fan of QR for easily swapping around optics on various platforms, and almost every mount or set of rings I have are QR,
But,
QR does require some compromises.

As a CQB oriented type of shooter, I personally am willing to accept the compromises that QR brings in order to enjoy the convenience, but for the ultimate in long range accuracy and strength, a bolt on mount has advantages.
