Vortex is a wonderful Company and their scopes are a great value.
The main problem with Vortex scopes is the lack of reliable tracking.
I have had 6 of them(PST's to Diamondbacks) and half of them had to be replaced multiple times because of the lack of reliable tracking. Not because they were put on an M1A(recoil impulse) and they were gobbled up, but because the are not Quality checked as well as Nightforce and other tier 2/tier1 companies.
They have been on bolt guns, 22LR lever guns, AR's and M1A's.

They are great scopes if you get a good one that will track. I know, that's kind of a general statement.
I like em.
If you want a very, very reliable scope...get a SS SWFA fixed 10. Tough as nails, tracks repeatedly every time and it's only $300.00 bucks

I have really fallen for the new Athlon scopes. Life time warranty, and they work really well. I have them on my Ruger Precision Rifle, Sig 556, and my M1A loaded. No problems.

Thanks from m1a_scoutguy

I agree ! I have a Midas and its the bomb for the price ! Many features and have played with it out to 600 yrds and its great scope ! Vortex are great scopes also but I think the Athlon is a better buy ! Vortex does have more models in more price ranges than the Athlon though. Take a look at them and decide. My scope: http://athlonoptics.com/product/mida...mr-sfp-ir-moa/ They can be had for a fair amount less than the MSRP.

What kind of tracking issues were you experiencing?

Thanks guys.

My budget for the scope is not much, that's why I was considering Vortex and with a hefty discount on MSRP, it's looking pretty good.

Tacking issues? tell us more.

So nobody has one of these yet? I'm considering the 3-9x40 for something. Most likely my m1a but I don't like the moa reticle. If they come out with mil/mil I'll be all over it like a hobo on a ham sandwich.

Also there is a hefty discount for Veterans on all their scopes MSRP's, you just need to sign up and give them proof.
