True, but it is give or take. The scope gets beat up with the split rail.

If a person worries about that, they can put a piece of velcro backing on the underside of the scope.

Thanks from 3Gunnah and wags2161

I cheated a little and had Mr. Wolfe cut the stripper clip guide for me in a regular split mount.

Leupold quick-release rings, they seem to work great and return to zero excellent.

I thought Leupold only made the quick release rings for Weaver mounts. The ARMS 18 is Picatinny. Do the Leupold QRW rings fit?

They should, I will let you know when my mount and rings arrive. The rule of thumb is weaver on picatinny but no picatinny on weaver.

You can also look into the basset low mount. It's not as low but you can remove the whole mount with scope easy and replace it just as easily.

Awards Showcase

The original (split) mount has Weaver dimensions. The current solid mount is Picattinny.

As others have said, ARMS #18 with split rail, ARMS quick detach rings has always performed for me.

My receiver, an SAI of recent vintage, was out of spec based on using the Sadlak kit to check it dimensionally. I really wanted the ARMS 18 due to the low profile, so I rolled the bones and went for it. It went on without a hitch. I'm not sure what the critical spec is, but it seemed to me during installation that the one thing that would really throw things off would be if the angle of the face that the stripper clip dovetails into were off, even slightly. That isn't something that the Sadlak kit measured for. FWIW... Anyway, really like my ARMS 18. Good luck!

Thank you all for the information. I recently bought an M1A and was looking for a good mount.

See if you can find an Israeli M21 mount. If you can live with the integral 26mm rings its the best mount out there. Its a single point mount and the screw has a spring loaded retention plunger that engages serrations on the mount. Once locked its immovable. But its important to have an in spec receiver with the barrel at a true right angle as there is no fudging for misalignment
