I know it is a pretty broad question, but trying to decide what scope to use on my M1A? Not looking to spend too much(under 200.00) and not needing sighting for over 200 yards yards are so. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Just looking for the most bang for my buck.
Well. It is a bit over $200,but I have a 10x SuperSniper that I had on my mine and upgraded to a 16X.I dont think you will find brighter, clearer optics fo the money. They are a grat mildot scope for the money..My opinion of course...
For that price range, I'd choose a Redfield 3-9x40. I like Zeiss Conquest scopes in the $400 range. They are superb for the price. I'll be getting a high end in about 2 years.
The Bushnell Tactical 10X fixed is probably the best VALUE available. Tough, good optics for the price, nice turrets. Only thing I don't like about it is you can't dial it in close enough for 25 yds, which is where I always start my zero procedure from.

Good iron sights are less than 200 bucks, just saying...or you can get a Vortex Viper 2.5X10 at just 600 dollars over your budget. You don't even have enough budget for a mount much less the scope. You really don't want to put a cheap scope on an automatic rifle, it wont last very long. In this case stay with the irons.
I'm with Tony. If you shop, finding a CO Redfield 3x9 accutrack for under $200 is not hard. A good mount and rings will cost you more. Ziess has better glass, but twice the price. But watch out: Ziess has a new line coming out MADE IN CHINA. Read cheap.
Have no experience with Leupold's Redfield line. Since Leupold put CO Redfield out of business, their quality has fallen.

Are you referring to the Terra 3x line? If so I am pretty sure those are made and assembled in Japan and not China, their Terra binoculars are made in China but not the riflescopes from what I understand.
I have (3) Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 with the BDE Reticle. For the money these are fine scopes. I use the weaver 6 hole tactical mounts and the Basset low profile picatinny mount. You can spend much more but depending on objective and budget this may be a good option?
Do you want a scope because of limitations with your vision? There are plenty of options for a scope in this range. Plenty of good suggestions. Did any one mention a Nikon Pro-staff? The main problem with cheaper scopes is the recoil from our girls. You might also be surprised at the options for iron sights that might solve some of your vision issues.
Actually, the only real reason I want a scope is that mainly I go to the gun range and I dont want to pay 200-300 for a spotter scope if I can get a decent quality gun scope to also use for spotting my other rifles as well.
You're going to need good quality glass to be able to see shots on target past 100yds. Probably a fixed power scope will be the only thing close to your budget if that is your goal.
Couple of Questions? Been looking at these 2 scopes (BattleZone and the Bushnell Tact). Just how accurate are the range dial ups on the Battlezone? Are they really worth having or do you dial say 500 yds then have to make 3 more clicks on the elev knob? Do I understand it right that the Bushnell Tact has much more finer click adjustments than the 1/4 MOA on the Battlezone? Any opinions on having a 10X fixed over a variable? My main use will be to check ammo accuracy at 100 yds then playing out to 600. Many thanks.
