A.R.M.S. #18 Mount Wrong Front Socket Screw?

I was on step 8 of installing my ARMS 18 mount and realized something... my front socket screw does not have a head, it appears that the opening will fix a hex driver, although it'd have to be a really small one.

How important is the front tension, and do I need that screw?

Yes, I would think you DO need it, the front mounting point would loosen under recoil . If the set screw wasn't needed ARMS wouldn't have gone to the trouble and expense of installing it. Contact them for another screw or the proper size and replace it. OTOH sometimes the set screw will touch the handguard especially if it' has a wood or laminated handguard this could be for those apps although I've never seen one like it before , it's a possibility. Contact ARMS.

The big guy on top does screw down till it touches you have to use a pick or a small screwdriver to turn it. Glad to see they are making the allen style screws now.

Hello,

offtopic little bit, and sorry that i continue ur topic, but i tryed use this mount wiht SAGE stock. Took that small screw off that arms was fit there.

When i was in ragen shot was too low and i adjust my scope up, and there was no more cliks up, and shot was still too low. Well i saw this other topic about ARMS and Sage, that u need replace this little screw other that will fit with Sage.

But when i was took off that ARMS on shooting range, that copper or broze color ring flew off and i didint find it anymiore and that hole front screw group fell on ground, i found evry screw and ring, but not that copper or broze color ring what holds that group.

so i need replace this copper ring, is there any good way to get this arms back to business without that ring ? or can that fix home made items somehow ?

i would buy new mount, but no shop in here

Setting up the ARMS #18 mount can be tedious to do correctly, how ever when done correctly. They are a very good low mount. The allen screw on the front holds the front tension button in adjustment. It is a necessary set screw. The front button should just contact the receiver very lightly, it is a stabilization contact only. If you apply to much force, you will have a wandering zero when your weapon heats up.
