I'm looking for a close quarter combat sighting system for my SAI, NM M1A.
I have been shooting with a Leupold VX-3 -LR scope mounted on a very solid Sadlak mount, that works great for load development and precise long range shooting, but I'm thinking that the EOTech would be much better for fast close up shooting.
I'd like to hear from those who have used the EOTech 512 sight, pro's and con's.
You might like the XPS/EXPS compact transverse design over the 5xx series longitudinal design. Look at/through all of the red dot optics types, or as many as you can lay hands on.
I have one and think it's great. I prefer them over the aimpoint style given that I don't care for the tube type red dots. Mine currently sits on the shelf as I've gone to a low power variable on the ar. Always thought they were too tall on the m14 platform. Op, if you are interested in trying one out, I will loan you mine.
Both the 552 and the 512 are actually night vision compatible. For the 552 it's one push of the button but for the 512 you would need to set it to the most dim setting which usually means holding the brightness control down or multiple punches of the button.
Well they advertise the 512 as non nv. I wouldn't risk my tube to it. Then again I run my archaic pvs4 which has its own reticle. However, small, fast and light it is not.
