mind telling me how you like the acog on your setup?
I just got my hands on an m1a with ebr kit and am looking for some advise. I really liked it on my m4 while deployed but i've heard the eye relief and how high it sits up is really uncomfortable.
what kind of acog/base/mount are you using?

also, thanks for the service.

Looks like a LaRue LT608. Some have complained that it is not solid and has a little bounce to it. I really like mine and haven't had any issues with maintaining zero. Its not advertised on their website; you have to call to order it. $160.

here's a couple of views of the set up 1st on a LRB MOd 0 I use to have the second on MOd 1 befor I went with a clone configuration and used a sage mount, but I prefer the SEI type setup
Lord How do you like the 6x USO? Do you think the 1.8-10 would have served you better on that set up? Thanks in advance

TRUE 1 power or 1.5 and again do you feel that there 1.8-10x37 would serve better on that platform

sorry yes its a 1.5 not 1, put i found it to be very comfortable with both eyes open, and to be honest i prefer the USO depending on the options on the USO they are about the same price but USO glass is much better quality and FFP

Thanks from raymond micklon

Thanks.

I'm using what is basically the same ACOG that the army issues, except with green fiber optic. I really like it; ACOGs have amazing glass and having an illuminated reticle that doesn't need batteries is great. The eye relief is rather short, but after countless time behind the ACOG on my M-4 and now the EBR, I've grown used to it. Watching my friends that shoot it scope-check themselves is an added bonus. If you are worried about it, some ACOG models have a longer eye relief, especially those designed for 7.62mm SDM rifles. The height doesn't bother me much, the tall cheek rest on the EBR sees to that. I'm sure I would like it less on a wood stock. And the base, as mentioned above, is the Larue LT608. I love it, some don't though. I guess my choices on accessories are sort of controversial.

I guess, to sum it up, I would recommend the ACOG if you are looking for a mid range military style setup. In my opinion, and that of some of my other infantry friends, the ACOG is great for the M-14 in a "battle rifle" role, and a lot of them prefer it to the Leupold issued with current EBRs in the army.

Thanks from brun

The guy standing in the foreground of that pic (holding the MK48) was Mike Monsoor.

Mike earned the Congressional Medal Of Honor posthumously when he and two Teammates were in a confined area when a grenade landed at his feet. They never saw it, but Mike did. He could've gotten away, but his buddies would have caught the full blast. Instead Mike dove on the grenade and shielded his buddies from the blast that mortally wounded him.

If you've ever seen the ceremony where the Team guys were slamming their Tridents into the lid of their fallen brethren's coffin, it started with Mike's.

Sorry for the thread hijack.

NSW uses Nightforce exclusively unless personally owned and employed.

I don't know that that's completely true. Maybe for their long range optics, but from what I've seen, anything in the arms room is fair game. There are plenty of Mk-14 pictures out there with Eotechs, aimpoints, acogs, NFs, Elcan Sceptres, and some other randoms.

roger that. i enjoyed my time over at huachuca, even if every civ in sierra vista seemed to be tweaking from their meth withdrawals.

Would that work with the set up? (seems like we have the same m1a setup) but it isn't the model that i was issued.

I believe the OP was referring to magnified optics. For magnified optics, NSW exclusively issues Nightforce.

Personal preference for an RDS is up to the end user. Also, the EBR is slowly being phased out for NSW, and little by little being replaced by the SCAR.

That would work, yes. You would have to buy a rail mount for it though, it seems that one only comes set to mount on a carry handle. No fiber optic either, don't know if you want that or not.

This one is a good candidate: http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/produc...id=TA01NSN-308

Has back-up irons and everything.
