Help picking cqb optic

Hey guys, I'm setting up my ar15 with some new gear and I want to put an optic on it for close range.

I've been running it with a 4 power acog on a qd mount and using irons for closer work and 3 gun - but I'm going to a carbine course in April and wanted to use the acog but need something for close in work.

I had wanted to piggyback an rmr on the acog but quickly discovered that that costs about the same as getting an aimpoint micro h1 on an offset mount or just going with an comp m3 and loosing the acog all together for the course. I'm leaning towards the later two because I could use them on my m14 too since they wont be attached to the acog.

-any suggestions?

I have a Aimpoint T1 on a LaRue QD mount. LaRue also makes a side mount that would allow you to keep the ACOG in place and tilt to the side to use the T1.

Nice reference to the Blues Brothers. If you check my alias in SCMODS(State County Municipal Offender Data System), my address is 1060 West Addison, Chicago, IL. :)

The Blues Brothers is the best movie.

Thanks from GARRARD

Very Nice!

The offset mount is actually one I'm looking at - I've just never used it before so trying to get some input and decide between the offset or regular mount or a comp m3, Hows the micro at distance - I know for the class we'll be shooting mostly out to 200yds but also a bit out to 400 so the 4 moa dot worries me

Go to a stocking dealer and look at the T-1. It'll answer the mail, even at 400m. I run the same setup a tmuenster, and I can tell you without any pause that it's a great optic.

Thanks from Mikey

I run an Aimpoint Micro T1 in a GG&G mount on my Daniel Defense M4. Love that setup.

I recently went through a similar process and ended up with the Aimpoint H1. I don't need NV capability.

My runner-up (and still likely future purchase) was the Aimpoint TR-24.

An M2, M3, or M4 would also be an excellent choice IMO.

I wanted light weight above all else so the H1 was the way to go for me.

I just saw that the T-1 is coming out in 2moa dot now that may interest you for the longer distance

Use the Bindon Aiming Concept with the ACOG and don't buy anything... If I can do it with a scope not designed for BAC, then you should have no problem doing it with an optic designed for BAC.

I have an Aimpoint Micro H-1 on a LaRue QD mount. That would be my choice. ACOGs are too bulky for my taste. 2 MOA vs 3.3 MOA....no difference. Outdoors you have to make it bright and it loses concentricity anyway.

If price was no object and it wasn't for me....I would go Aimpoint all day long. I've tried EoTechs and ACOGs also. Should have listened to others b/c I sold them at a loss. Kept the Aimpoint.

BAC on the a cog is not all its cracked up to be...

What about an aim point/eotech and a 4x magnifier? I've never used a flip to side mag but the seem promising. anyone have duty/combat expirience with one of those? or maybe just a run and gun course?

I am selling my Acog on amazon and getting a red dot for my scout. I like the idea of my gun jamming less so I'm going with the forward mounted comp ML2 or perhaps ill go with an eotech.
