Are you sure you want a magnified optic for that snubnose little boomstick?

What kind of optic are you looking for?

Nightforce or US Optics is where you want to look.

Vortex. A Viper PST 1-4x can be had for around $450. They also sell trimmed down models for less.

Said it before, and I will say it again, here and in 2 other posts.
You can't beat Vortex Optics.
Stay away from the bottom line models. Go Mid or above.
They are a US based company, out of Madison WI.
The R&D guy is an M1a/M14 owner.
They have lifetime warranties on all their products.
Hope this helps.
A Viper sits on top of my Standard. I love it.
Next rifle will get another Vortex Scope.

I have a Sodom II. I was looking at the PST 1X4. How far out are you hitting target...we hog hunt and something about rollen hogs with a M14 make me warm inside...Thanks

Chinese Scopes and Taiwanese scopes are decent.

I've had a Barska 3-9 IR on my Mauser 8mm and it has been a great scope.

I think Chi-Com is the way to go to get something nice without blowing lots of money.

The reason I say that is they aren't bound by the EPA, OSHA, or Unions. They can de-gas and produce some of the best crankshaft and flywheel assemblies around, and the Eagle rods are excellent.

The Shovelution engine I am building has chinese single piece flywheels. Excellent rockwell hardness, dial indicator checked concentricity, journals are dead on. I have Chinese gear on one of my American lathes, it's pitch and teeth are excellent.

The warranty and customer service vortex has is enough reason to go with them. Hands down.

I would look at the Vortex scopes first, Buris, then SWFA. They all offer scout optics that are a good value. Nikon and Millet also have some good offerings.

Awards Showcase

If you're not necessarily needing to stick with the forward scout mount, the SWFA line mixed with a Bassett Low Picatinny mount would be my first choice.

If you're committed to the factory mount, I say skip the unbalanced weight of a forward magnified and go with an simple Aimpoint or micro red dot.
