Freedom Munitions first impressions(308 & 223)

I ordered a some of this ammo since time/space is not available right now for reloading. Ended up getting 168gr A-Max 308 and 55gr V-Max 223 re-manufactured.

Nice packaging for the 308.

4 little boxes with 5 rounds in each.

Went through and checked EVERY single round....not by choice because of this

It was nothing a toothbrush wouldn't take off and gave me time to see what kind of brass was used.

Ended up with the following numbers(all LC brass):
1 - 88
3 - 05
7 - 07
7 - 08 LR
22 - 09
80 - 08 (pictured below)

Here is the worst condition piece I could find besides the regular minor dents.

My thoughts on the 308.... looks good minus the gunk around the neck which wasn't that hard to removed but set off my OCD and curiosity. Will have a range report in the near future.

The 223 was packed in 50rd boxes.

Very pretty and ready to go out of the box.

Brass was a mix of FC, Winchester, Speer, and LC.

I came up with the following numbers from 1 box.
1 - FC 06
1 - FC 223 REM
5 - Winchester 223 REM
Speer
1 - 09
9 - 08
5 - 07
LC
1 - 06
2 -05
12 - 08
13 - 07

That is most bizarre, I have been de capping and cleaning primer pockets on some LC LR with a date of 05 and some of the rounds had the same black stuff on them. Almost like chewing gum. Thought it might have been tree sap but I have no idea what it is. How much did it come to a round for the stuff???? Looks pretty good.
Disregard, I did not see the links. A buddy just picked up 1500 rounds of privy 168 gr bthp match for 1100 and change. Pretty sure it was 14.59 a box over ten boxes. If you are interested I will find out where he got it. I don't know how the amax compares to the bthp.

Found the link if your still looking for some more or anyone else for that matter. Again, its not the Amax ammo.

Wow!
With all those mixed cartridge case head stamps I'll be waiting to see how this stuff groups too.
If I were you I would try sorting the ammo out by head stamp and seeing if the groups shift as you switch from headstamp to headstamp (if you expect accuracy; if it's just plinking ammo then probably not.....).

Finally got to shoot it today with great results. Just popped off enough to confirm zero at 50yds, but VERY accurate in all 3 rifles(in my profile pictures). Every single shot landed touching or on top of each other(in the scoped rifles). Should easily be MOA at 100yds. Didn't see any significant changes in POI with different cases since I was taking friends out to shoot and didn't have time to really evaluate. Feels almost as accurate as my old Remington 700.

This is the only ammo I've tried that works well in all 3 of them. My rifles seem to like it more than that overpriced HSM ammo for 1/3 the price. No problems came up whatsoever and performed flawlessly. Will be ordering more ASAP.

I haven't tried any of the .308 yet, but I've shot quite a bit of the 5.56 ss109 and .45acp in 230 gr. all new manufacture. It's all functioned flawlessly so far and I don't have any complaints. The factory where it's made is about 30 miles from my house and I know they previously sold ammo under the name USA Ammo until the business partnership ended and they relaunched as Freedom Munitions.

Freedom Munitions Remanufactured Ammo

I just ordered a case of 480 rounds of 150 gr. re-manufactured ammo from Freedom Munitions for $249. Here is the link for anyone interested:

http://www.freedommunitions.com/category-s/1881.htm

This is about the same price I paid for Chinese surplus or Norinco ammo, but it is made in the US and is brand new (sort of). If it works well it seems like a pretty good deal. Once I get to shoot some I will post a report.

Love all the information on this forum!

Cheers.

I bought 250 rounds .223 and 240 rounds .308 a few months ago. They offer new ammo, but I opted for the reman ammo. The prices beat any surplus I could find, aside from steel case Eastern bloc stuff.

I had zero issues with the .308, and it seemed to shoot consistently. I was chasing a bad scope reticle at the time, so I can't assess it for accuracy, but it seemed good.
The .223 reman didn't work out so well. I had 30-40% fail to fire, but it bears hearing the story before you jump to any conclusions. The first couple of boxes were excellent, and accurate, then I opened another box and it almost all went down hill with fail to fire issues. It was clearly bad primers. I kept trying through another box, and it started getting better, then it improved somewhat. In the end, about 1/3rd of the .223 order was bad.
I emailed Freedom Munitions and they responded very promptly. After a short delay on back-order, they replaced all 250 rounds of .223 at no charge, with NEW ammo. I think you can say what you like about the primer issue. I provided the lot number off my goods so that they could trace the isue. Stuff like this happens. FM responded well. I was happy.

I think you could whine all you like about Port surplus, but doubt anyone would offer replacement or refund. I just received my second order from FM. I'll be shooting it for a while, but suspect any complaints will be addressed. They won my dollar.

I just ordered and received 480 rounds of reman .308 150 Gr. FMJ and 480 rounds of Blaster .308 150 Gr. FMJ. My rifle is currently out at Warbird so no shooting yet but the ammo looks good. I bought the blaster as cheap plinking ammo. They sell it cheaper than the reman stuff because it does not meet their "visual expectations" or something like that. It is the same bullet with the same primer and powder, just that it doesn't look pretty. Well I opened the Blaster ammo and it looks very good. I was expecting tarnish and dents. Most looked just fine, with a couple of scratches. Price was good and shipping was decent and fast. Cheapest I could find for brass cased ammo. And yes, it was all LC brass that was in my boxes I checked.

I bought some about 6 months ago and just got to shoot it this past weekend; 308, 150gr, FMJ. It shot really well, nice tight groups out of my Socom 16.

It held about 2MOA at 100 yards. Not bad for practice ammo. I was pleased with its performance, I think its good value too. I'll order more.

I bought 100 rounds of their 147 gr. reloaded stuff in .308 2 weeks ago. They are LC cases and FMJ. All 100 rounds went bang and I was able to send them through the 10 ring at 100 yds. with only a few flyers that was my fault.

I will definitely buy more when the ammo can is getting low. Quick ship too.

I just found FM last week and orders reman .223(62gr) and .308 (175's) I want to see how the 175's stack up to my hand loads.

I like the brass for credit program also. I'll give you a range report when I can

I have shot the 308/762 ammo. I have the blaster 147 gr its magnetic. Its marked on the web site now. Its good and clean.
I also have the soft point. It non magnetic and shoots great.
I want to try some others but don't have the $$$ right now.

By the way any of you with the 150 gr 308/762, is the bullet magnetic? I emailed them and they didn't understand what I was asking, I got back its brass cased with lead core, I just want to know if it magnetic

There's a store not far from my house called Freedom Ammunition.

They sell a a combination of new and "remanufactured" ammunition (I think it's govt brass they bought and reloaded). Ammo only - nothing else.

For .308, their pricing runs $21.95 (reman) to $23.95 (new) for a box of 20.

Heard about 'em from another shooter at a nearby range. First time I went in (~2 months ago), their shelves were almost bare. These days, they definitely have more inventory (more remanufactured than new). At least in .308. I think .223 gets bought up as soon as the store gets it.

I've shot a variety of their ammo. I'm still on a learning curve (I'll use that excuse as long as I can get away with it), but their 168 Gr A-max (new & reman) makes a good group for me - 90% inside of 3" @ 100 yds. Same w/ their 175 Gr BTHP - but not as plentiful.

Anyone else use their product? Opinions?

A store that only sells ammo !? Only in free America. I remember visiting my family in tennssee the first time and spending a few hundred at a fireworks supermarket. Woulda made the coward home in California heads explode. We shot it all off on 4th of July at my father in laws farm. They Probly would never even get the zoning ordinance passed here for that.

To your question. Ive Seen it for sale never shot it. Sorry
