So my new M25 arrived the other day. GI stock, 18.5, tanker LRB. I also added the black nitride piston. It's wearing a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x40
I'm very pleased although quite a bit poorer. Lol

Dang if you ain't right six click.
I've been so busy with work and hunting season I missed that but yeah, that scope is too high. I thought they were sending me medium rings. Now I have to check and see what they are as those look big. I have low ring on just about everything I own and usually there is space for a piece of paper to slide between the barrel and objective the scope but not much more.
Thanks for pointing that out.

Nice looking set-up. Now drop that scope down about 1/2" and rub the stock down with some True Oil and buff it with some 0000 steel wool when it dries and you'll have a real looker and a better cheek weld with the lower scope rings.

10-4. I already took the scope off and will hopefully make it to range this afternoon. Once I realized what I did, I had to rip it off.
I may be able to get to cabellas late today and get some low rings.

Nice rig.
As mentioned, Lower the scope and oil up your stock. Make sure your handguard has clearance fore and aft and that there is space between it and your stock.
Then get a good cheek riser and add one of Hawk's dummy kits.
When you get ready to head to the range, turn the sling around so the keeper is forward and the butt clip is at the butt.
I think you are going to enjoy the scope rifle combination.
I have a bunch of MK4 3.5 - 10s and they are super.
If you ever get up to the NW part of the state, you are welcome to shoot with me anytime on my home range and we can compare notes.

Thanks for the invite. Looks like you are the Hickock 45 of CT with that range. 10-4 on the rings, I've been so sleep deprived from getting up at 4 to bowhunt. A cheek pad would really complete the look.

Had no idea what Hickock 45 was until I did a quick search.
What are you doing with the deer at those dark times of the morning? Jack lighting. Or do you just like to catch them while they are still in their pjs.
Cheek pad is for functionality, not just looks.

lol, yup add some steel targets and you too can make $ on you-tube.
Understood on the cheek rest. Knew that. It does contribute to the look though.

Because it's been so warm, deer tend to move more at night and early morning, before the temperatures climb. I get up then so I can shower, drive there, walk in and be in the tree before the sun comes up. You have to allow extra time to climb a tree with a climber stand if you want to be quiet.
This is a good way to catch them coming back to their beds. Now with the time change, I think we will need to be up about 3:30 for rifle season.

I managed to shoot the M25 sans scope Sunday afternoon. Basically went through the break in procedure as described on the barrel site. One shot- clean, one shot -clean, lol
It was fun anyway. Rifle range was packed, weekend before deer season. After this week it will go back to normal, no one there for the most part.

I had a phone call from a friend that stopped by Wooster Mtn club in Danbury yesterday. He said that the parking lot was full of guys waiting for a bench to sight in their deer rifles. He made the trip to my place and had a ball with no wait.
Took this photo on my range 3 weeks ago, just so you remember what they are supposed to look like.

Thanks really nice CT. buck. I do remember what they look like although so far this season mine have not had any head gear. That's okay though as we are meat hunters first.

Thanks everyone for the rifle praise. I will post new pic when I get the low rings. Gotta get over to Cabellas. Probably Leupold rings. They have a lot of Warn which are nice but I dont care for the ring being split the way they do it. I am open to cheek pad suggestions!

Man, I really feel for you. That is horrible. I fear CWD too. It has not shown up here but is in other states nearby.

Thanks for the pics there Six Clicks
Looks like the Leupold Med is a little less than my mediums.
I'm thinking if the lows work it will be tight.. but they may work. If so I shouldn't need a pad. Is there a ghost image from the front site at either end of the magnification range?

Yes, 444P., Leupold VX 3 w heavy duplex. Handles great in the woods.

Oh I hate standing on my head to see pix....LOL!
pic upside down to you?

trapper, just think of how many pairs of wife's shoes you saved
.?? Ok, help me out here..... maybe I'm just tired. lol

Check out these rings from Midway USA http://www.midwayusa.com/product/876230/egw-30mm-picatinny-style-rings-matte
They're lower than most and much easier to calculate which height you'll need because the dimensions are measured from the top of the base contact to the bottom of the inside of the scope ring. Using your current set up take measurements of the front and rear scope bells and power adj. ring for clearance to determine the minimum ring height. I was able to drop my scope ring height by 1/4" with a Leupold MK4 LR/T 30mm tube and 50mm objective which gave me a better cheek weld with a GI M14 stock.

Yeah, those are what I'm looking for.
I gotta get the rings soon. Between work and hunting haven't had any time.
Gonna be cold getting it dialed in during Dec.

Very nice. Tenderloin for Thanksgiving?
All the tenderloin is eaten :) first to go. That's okay, lotta meat left. I wanted to grab another turkey w bow but they all seemed to move off my areas to their winter areas.
Spots in Oct where I would see flocks every day don't have 1 bird now. You know how it is....

Midway sells out quickly on these rings but usually gets them back in stock within 30 days. This is the lowest price I've seen them at.

The tenderloins are always the first to go and never have the chance to partake. Tho I like my venison roast recipe, had the chance to do a couple of roasts donated by my boss after being venison less for 5 years. It was heaven for a Sunday meal and leftovers.

Eagle, those are the same thing that EGW has on their site as the "tactical rings" correct?
I am a EGW fan. I have their bases on 2 - Savage 220 slug guns and a Savage 10ML2 "smokeless muzzleloader"

5 years? Is the herd hurting there? Hard winters? How many tags do you all get?
It is nuts here. 4 bow tags, 2 rifle, 1 state land shot gun, 2 muzzle-loader and I can get replacement doe tags if needed. One thing about CT is the deer hunting is great esp. if you get on private land.
5 years and I'll mail you jerky out of sympathy! LOL
