My first introduction to the M14 was at Ft. Benning's Harmony Church in 1969 for basic training, Next was Ft. Leonard Wood for combat engineer (12B). In Vietnam I used several weapons but managed to trade my way into a M14. I regularly used it returning sniper fire, fire base shoot outs, thousands of hours of guard duty, security patrols, convoy escort, mine sweeps and such. I haven't really wanted another one until I traded into an M14S that has US parts installed. I'd mostly been into ARs, FALs, and bolt action hunters. First time I fired it it was like coming home. I have a Springfield 1st Gen sniper scope on it and load all my own ammo. Now I''m trying hard not to send my ARs,FALs, and other such down the line for more M14s. Thanks
