New M1A owner in Ohio!

Just wanted to stop by and say Hi to everyone. I have had the M1A on my wish list for many years and I finally was able to order one today. I ended up going with a wooden stock Scout Squad. I also bought the Primary Arms 4-14x44mm ACSS HUD DMR 308 reticle scope and it all should be in my hands next week!

The other gear I've bought is the Condor 42" single gun case for my gun and I scored a deal with the sale Brownells is having right now on 20 round M1A mags, so I got 3 Check Mate Industries mags for $60. I bought Lubriplate 130-A grease as well.

There are a few things I may need some help deciding on what to get as well. I am having a tough time choosing between the airborne, steel, or titanium Sadlak Industries scope mount. Anyone have any experience with those? I am also having trouble finding a cheek riser. I found a really nice leather one made by Riserva called Optical Ranger. That is exactly what I am looking for, but it's made in the U.K. and would be way to much to get shipped here. My last problem I'm having is figuring out how I am going to add two flush mounts for QD swivels to the left side of the stock for a 2 point sling. I am really wanting a Vtac Padded 2 point sling or a Rhodesian Sling from Andy's Leather, which is a leather 2 Point sling for scout rifles. Also, one last thing... are there any other Scout owners that have recommendations for ammo for a DMR setup?

Sorry for the long post, I'm just so excited to start shooting and learning all the details of this gun!

Welcome pics? Federal gold metal match 168gr. Is the best ammo for you if you do t hand load. Bradley makes a good adjustable cheek riser, there is one for sale in the PX on this forum. Never done the sling mounts like that the one on the butt stock will be easy the forearm not so much. Keep asking questions that's how we learn.

I should have clarified better. I just ordered it online today so as soon as I get it from my FFL next week I'll definitely be taking some pics and put them up in the forum.

Thumbs up

Welcome from North Carolina !!! I use the Bradley adjustable cheek rest that attaches with Velcro.. Works great on my M-25, if the scope goes fubar, just pull it off and go open sights..

Good Luck!!

Thanks from CeltFox

Thanks for the recommendation! I actually have been looking at those and I decided to go ahead and get one. I really like the look of leather cheek rests so I went with the new adjustable one that looks like leather. I also finally decided on the Airborne version of the Sadlak mount. Just bought 100 rounds to get me started, so I think I'll be good to go once I get it sighted in.
