Smile SOCOM 16 in Milwaukee, WI

Hi all, been a lurker for a while, gotten a lot of advice and insight from you guys. Thank you!

I was a scout in the Army, did a lot of walking around Afghanistan in 2012-2013. I used a SAW, 240B, M500, and an M4. Got to play with my SDM's EBR every-so-often and fell in love with the M1.

I have several other guns, and regularly travel for training and classes. I shoot 2-3 times a week, but am just starting this longer-range journey. I got a SOCOM 16 in FDE (pictures on my profile) in 2016 and I have been adapting her to a mid-range hunting application.

The amount of expertise on this sight is deep as it is wide, I look forward to many years here. Thanks again!

Welcome on board NITE KNIGHT, pull up an old ammunition crate and sit awhile. This here Gun Board is a great place for information on our beloved M14 Battlerifle and military surplus ammunition for feeding her. Again welcome on board and have yourself a great weekend. Thank you for your service to our country, America is better off because of you.

What type optics are you planing to use, or are you going irons? I'm interested to know I'm also looking into another m14 type rifle, either a scout or socom. Like corps said we all appreciate your service, and was kind of joking about polack but he gets grouchy without his beer lol.
We look forward to having you and your knowledge around as well. We are a rag tag bunch but we seem to stick together.

Welcome to the forum. With your experience, do you sometimes wonder why the Army doesn't field the SOCOM 16 platform to troops?

Welcome from a fellow SOCOM 16 owner. Mine is not quite as decked out as yours. Really nice.

I blame my M1A addiction on Shmitty and Rick. I still miss Rick.

Thanks for your service. It seems like anyone who had a chance to use an M-14 during their tour fell in love with the platform. I know I did the first time I shot one. Welcome to the forum and good luck with the rifle. Now if mine will come in soon I will be a really happy guy.

Stay safe down on Water Street. Have some Kopps Custard and Sprecher Root Beer for me.
