New M1A Owner - Raleigh

After years of admiring the M14, M1 Garand, and M1 Carbine, I finally purchased my first M1A in the Loaded configuration this weekend. Now begins the journey of learning, shooting, and loving this rifle!

Any tips from the veterans on the first 90 days of owning and shooting the M1A? Any suggestions on decent, inexpensive ammo options for plinking at my indoor range (for now)?

Thanks!

Clean and lube, watch the youtube videos made by Tonyben.

Look in the ammunition page for recommended ammo.

Remember although she is chambered in 308/7.62x51 not all ammo is "safe" to fire. I say this because most indoor ranges have "ammo rules" American Eagle "red box" 150 Gr FMJ should be good ammo for indoor use. Get to know Sadlak, they make top of the line cleaning tools for your M1A. Oh and welcome to the forum.

Welcome from SD. So you're saying that your next rifle is going to be an M1 followed by an M1 carbine?? Once you are bitten, there is only one "cure"-more M1 based rifles. i'm surprised that the CDC hasn't required manufactures to affix a warning label to each one of these rifles warning of this problem.

Not sure what your range permits, but ammoseek.com is a place to start, and SGammo.com is where I usually end up.

If you're a "plinker" like me the Austrian Hirtenberger surplus is very affordable. J&G sales in AZ still has a good supply of it.

Welcome, I think your loaded is one of the best rifles out there as far as cost/accuracy.
My rifle likes American eagle OTM.
