Another FNG to the world of the M14 from SoCal

Well been hanging out long enough figure I would post a pic and say hello to everyone here. I am a long time gun owner and have all the standard black rifles (AR's) as well as some AK's. But I have been dying to get my hands on a M1A for a while but couldn't bring my self to spend the money required to get one.

One of my customers, go figure, sold me his barely used SAI Stanard for $1000 and I couldn't say no.

This is me shooting it after I took the synthetic stock off and put a nice walnut stock on and a sling. I have to say this is bar none my favorite rifle! I already ordered some parts from Sadlak, including Shims and the proper tools needed for the job. I would also like to bed it after I figure out exactly how to do it.

I find this forum extremely helpfull and have already done my first transaction, plan on being a long time member.

I am not a member of our armed forces but do my part to support them when I can. This does include making my girl say the rifleman's creed from Full Metal Jacket, before bed time. She is getting pretty good at it.

Also during this shoot someone brought one of these bad boys.

It's .460. Not sure I would ever buy one but it was fun shooting at bowling pins with it.

Always nice to have another So Cal guy. My girlfriend lives in Irvine, I'm usually there most weekends and a few times during the week... I'll be out there this afternoon/tonight come to think of it.

Where were the pics taken? Looks like the high desert area.

How does the rifle currently shoot?

Also, be ready to get lectured on eye protection... Personally, I don't care, they're your eyes, not mine. I prefer to shoot without eye protection myself, usually only wear it when I'm at a range that requires it.

What are you going to do with your synthetic stock?

Welcome!

Glad to see you shooting that beautiful beast with open irons and a sling. That's a thing of beauty.

Thanks from cachunk

Thanks all, I don't like shooting with the glasses on unless I have to either, I'm pretty blind as it is so they don't help my cause. I live in Irvine but this shoot was off the 15 and Bell Mountain Road.

She is shooting well I think, just got my shims in today so need to put them in and give it another run. Will post pics of the hits.

I already sold the stock, sorry.

I really like shooting with the sling, first time doing it and can't see why I haven't done this before! Makes stabilization so much easier it's not even funny.

Anywise, thanks guys I find this place a wealth of knowledge and I look to daily.

Welcome to the forum from NorCal. Congratulations on finally getting an M1A and thanks for posting pics of it. It's always great to see another member join from the 'Left' coast.
