As posted above, OGCA is the Ohio Gun Collectors Association. I am a current OGCA member and recently picked up my first M1A rifle at the last show this past January. See the Devine M1A sub-forum - "Go Big" thread. It really isn't that difficult to join. You do however need two members to sponsor you. If you are interested see the details at the link below. The OGCA meets bi-monthly at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington. If you are within a two hour drive it is more than worth it.

Good hunting!

If the stock is glass bedded then don't take it apart to many times as this is hard on the bedding material. If its not bedded in the stock its not a NM. Don't fall for the loaded model being a NM. Loaded M1As only have about 1/2 the NM up grades.

Welcome to the forum from NorCal. I believe the 'loaded' is the best value for your dollar but it depends on which length you are looking for. The shorter rifles are finding more interest, maybe you need two???????????????

Took the plunge today

I ordered a National Match today !!?? YEA!!!! My local Shop basically matched the price quoted by Woodbury Outfitters in Cochocton, and I paid 2 bills total out the door (rifle, Tax & transfer) couldn't be happier.
Can't wait to get it and do a thourgh cleaning and find a range nearby that goes out 200 yds or more and get it zeroed in. I plan just for safety sake to break in the barrel just as I have with my bolt varmint guns.
Thanks again for all of your information & support!!

Hey, congratulations and welcome!

If at all possible, you should really try to post photos of both the rifle and range trip/targets.

We love photos around here.

I am a regular at the Delaware State Park range but as you probably know it is only 100 yards. Let me know what you find that is longer.

Hi BigBuckeye,

I was fortunate enough to know a couple of members who sponsored me. The two sponsors basically vouch for the new member and co-sign the membership application. The board of directors then has to approve the new member before the membership is issued. The OGCA is a member only show, but members are allowed to invite guests. A guest may attend two shows and then must decide to join or not. This is the best way to check it out and see if joining would be worthwhile. The shows feature a good mix of collectible items as well as new commercial offerings. The variety is similar to National Gun Day shows in Louisville if you have ever attended one of those shows. Hopefully I've been able to answer some of your questions.

Regards,
MD
