All great info, thanks for the thread as I was wondering the same thing. If I could attempt to summarize: There are a variety of products and methods out there, almost all being "ok" when it comes to maintenance of the rifle. The thing to avoid is simply no maintenance at all.

I had planned on using CLP exclusively, but will incorporate some grease on the parts that slide.

The only oil and/or grease I use is made by Sentry Solutions (American Made).
I have been using for about 2 years now and have not had any issues with there products at all. Besides lubricants, they also make a nice little rag that will protect any surface once wiped on.

There website is http://www.sentrysolutions.com

Thanks,
Jeff

Cool

CLP/Eezox on any of the external parts exposed to the elements and/or your acidic hands from handling. Small rotating pins like the hammer/trigger/bolt stop/mag catch pins can also have a dab of CLP on them. All other parts where metal rubs, get a coating of spec. grease. PS there are threads here on the forum that cover this. dozier

I use CLP for oil and Valvoline Multipurpose for grease. So far, so good.

For grease, I use Lubriplate 130-A on my M1A and M1 Garand, and Break Free CLP for oil.

You guys are Great! Thank you all so much. The diagrams and videos really help. I know some of my questions may seem simple and common sense, but I really want to keep this rifle in pristine working order so I can pass it on to my son (& hopefully so on & so on). My mother still has a musket from the Revolution used by my ancestor to fight for our freedom from the Brittish. I am a Son of the American Revolution as well. Thank you folks so much for helping me out.

I have had Lubriplate 130 separate into oil and grease. (Silver plastic squeeze tube.) These days, I use Castrol synthetic wheel bearing grease. It is a little thick for winter use, but stays where you put it and doesn't separate in hot weather.
