Telling a woman you killed alot of people is definitely one way to show a lady you are a warm, sensitive, caring individual.

I'm just curious, how can you tell if they're fake?

Ask a discreet question that only those who were there would know the answer. Of course, the faker then looks up the answer, and next time someone corners him, he has it ready.

I think I ran into a group lead by a super fake "ex seal" at a paintball field. Dude was all dressed up claiming this and that he had a paintball gun that looked like a AR15, anyway my brother and my 10 year old nephew (who had never played paintball) set up an ambush in a wash and shot these fools up till they were crying for their momma.

Asking a faker what his BUDs Class was will usually trip up about 98% of them.

used to be you could inquire at the wall of shame and get an answer in about 24 hours on a guy...

http://cyberseals.org/SEAL%20Imposters.html

and if you got really interested you could call Coronado...

Chuck Farrar (sp?), is still running veriSEAL.org, but my understanding is he's pretty much limiting his responses to LEO these days.

If you join socnet.com, there's a SEAL page where a name can be checked through contacts at NavSpecWar in Coronado. I've smoked out two fakes myself. I really thought the second was going to throw down, it must be hell to be caught in a lie like that.

Thanks from GARRARD

We had a guy at work (about two years ago now) who began stating (out of the blue mind you) that he was a Navy Seal in Vietnam.

Several of us called his "B.S." after hearing him make this claim for months on end... merely two years from his retirement.

We finally had heard enough and contacted a Navy Seal veteran we knew. He made some connections and even obtained a copy of the imposter's DD214. Turns out this imposter didn't even serve in Nam having only been in the U.S. Navy from 1978 to 1980 where he served on a support ship and worked as mechanic of some sort.

We forwarded this DD214 copy to our internal affairs office and within the year this imposter was forced to retire (in lieu of being fired).

Do not tolerate imposters. Out them.

Thanks from CAVman
