I was an AMH. Started out in an F4U-4 Sqdn in 53. We got F9F-6s in 56. I was plane captain and had taxi lisc on both.
Transferred to VP in 57 crewing PB4Y-2 Privateers. About 6 months later we got P2V-5 Neptunes. Got out in 58, went back in in 64 - had a hitch in the Army in between. Since I was flying the Ordnance position I changed my rate to AO. Got out in 68 as an AO2. Went back to the Army, the Navy wouldn't send me to Viet Nam!
Where are you guys getting the Aircrew wings you have on your posts?
I had the WW 2 aircrew wings when I got out in 58, when I went back in 64 they had switched over to the gold wings and designated the WW 2 wings as combat aircrew wings.
