I don't hate the new uniforms as much as I hate the fat women wearin them....

Navy sure screwed the pooch on the whole women in the military thing. Problem is the "fitness standards" which are very weak by anyone's standards are pathetic for women.

I thought we were all "equal" and then I see that a female of the same age gets 1/3 longer to complete a 1.5 mile run, has to do half the situps and 1/3rd the pushups to score the same as a male. So were gonna be "equal" with seperate fitness standards??? huh?

I'm glad I got out of the Navy. Now I sit at the firehouse gym busting my ass to stay in shape and I look out the window and see these lard a$$es running around the base.....and don't even get me started on the "gangsters" wearing their uniform pants below their butts, with chiefs and officers walking by saying NOTHING..........

pathetic..

maybe they tried to camo the navy uniforms to hide all the fat squids!!!!!!

I got the following link from one of my JA Submarineer shipmates back in April… He’s a retired ETC(SS) who put in 20 years with NASA after retiring from the Canoe Club and resides in Florida.
Note the sack of S*&t in khakis at the beginning of the clip… She appears to be a CPO type… A poster child for why you need to stay away from the sticky buns… Yeppers, there she is with her hands on her hips just exuding true “deck plate” leadership…. Or mebe’ it’s a Manatee masquerading as a CPO…????

In the Army (I was an Officer in Cav & Tank Battalions), I bought and wore GI coveralls for nasty work. I understand that in some Navy cases, Naval officers are not near as hands on as Army officers are at the O-3 and lower level. Getting oil & grease on them wasn't a concern at all.

I've seen the new Navy uniforms & wonder why? My father was a Seabee on Guadacanal where they wore khakis and looked similar to the Marines. It looks like a good waste of money.

NWUs look cool, but I think they're poorly made. I bought a new set when I made second class, and three buttons fell off the first week I had them! I'm transferring to a Seabee battalion and can't wait to get some BDUs!

The new uniforms are terrible! I registered after lurking for a while just to comment on this thread.

When I was in we still had to learn why there were 13 buttons!

The crackerjacks and dungarees held part of the navies history. Just like wog day and blue noses, but I suppose in this PC world those are gone to. One day we will regret having wooden men and iron ships instead of the other way around.

One of the things that made me proud of being in the navy was the amazing amount of history. I learned it from my pop's who was navy, he learned it from his!

Forgetting history will doom us to repeat it!

Rant over.

Would the following modification make the uniforms a little more acceptable?

That's what I think of every time I see them.

You'd be sleeping with the fishes. I've seen them on seaman at Hartsfield. I think each color has actually been used as ship's camo sometime in the last 100 years. No way anyone could find you.

That's exactly what I thought!

Like my former rant about how the Navy drilled into me about how the most important thing about the Navy was TRADITION! Like crackerjacks , shellback , Sailors with beards , bell-bottom trousers , knot-tying , looking out for your shipmates (and Marines!) and a whole bunch of other things that are but a footnote today.

I was from the swabbies/seafarer era for daily wear and the dress blues/whites for formal occaisions accompanied by the dixie cup. Everything since then is crap.
