Russia claims it can wipe out US Navy with single 'electronic bomb'

Published April 19, 2017
The Sun

Russia has claimed it can disable the entire US Navy in one fell swoop using powerful electronic signal jamming.

A news report from the country – where the media is essentially controlled by the state – said the technology could render planes, ships and missiles useless.

The newsreader says: “Today, our Russian Electronic Warfare (REW) troops can detect and neutralise any target from a ship’s system and a radar, to a satellite.”

The news report claims a single Russian war plane flew several times around American destroyer the USS Donald Cook in the Black Sea several years ago, disabling its systems and leaving it helpless.

The report also claims they are capable to creating electronic jamming domes over their bases that make them invisible on radar screens.

The propaganda piece even quotes top US General Frank Gorenc as saying: “Russian electronic weapons completely paralyse the functioning of American electronic equipment installed on missiles, aircraft and ships.”

The reporter adds: “You don’t need to have expensive weapons to win – powerful radio-electronic jamming is enough.”

The news comes after Donald Trump dispatched the USS Carl Vinson, powered by nuclear reactors, carrying almost 100 aircraft and accompanied by destroyers, a cruiser, and a submarine to the Korean Peninsula.

And the commander-in-chief is said to be bolstering American deployment in the region by sending the USS Ronald Reagan and the USS Nimitz to the Sea of Japan next week.

Russia, along with China, is said to have sent a spy ship to the area to ward off the task force amid rising tensions in the region.

Have any of you ever heard of this before? It would seem we could shield our electronics on our ships & planes but I don't pretend to know anything about this threat. Or is it just Russian BS propaganda? HH

We've been developing a microwave emission missile tech that is designed to essentially be a targeted electronics fryer - something we can launch at a base and "detonate" like a micro-EMP concept targeting electronics, but to the best of my knowledge we're further ahead on the tech than anyone (much like our planes and naval capabilities being a generation or two or three ahead of everyone else).

It is possible this is the kind of tech they're talking about - but instead of missile based it is attached to a hard point on a plane that does fly bys.

Russia has claimed it can disable the entire US Navy in one fell swoop using powerful electronic signal jamming. Well EMF Pulse Generators have been researched extensively for 70 years, lots of time invested in keeping this from interfering with electronics , that is unless Russia has a new Secret Weapon.... the Boris 2000.. a 20 foot Vodka bottle spun between 2 magnets. The Russians are not stupid...but... the propaganda machine is almost as bad a MSN and CNN.

They could also be claiming they have tech on par with the F-18 Growler... but again... we're a generation to three ahead of the Russians in most air force regards... I can't imagine if they do have anything like that it is capable of disabling a ship. Confusing radar signatures a bit maybe - but not disabling a destroyer or frigate or such's electronics package completely.

Read rumors of this on various "Conspiracy" web sites.
Also read the Navy is desperately trying to refit ships with a defensive system.

I would not underestimate and summarily discount the Russians or the Chinese weapons like a lot of people do.

Awards Showcase

Heard something about one of the legacies of the Clinton era, was giving some of our military & aerospace electronics to the Chinese, in exchange for campaign funds which doesn't surprise me.

Then a few years ago, there was some mystery surrounding an unscrupulous military contractor down in South Florida that ended up dead, apparently he was selling computer chips that went into sensitive plane, ship & missile electronics, that turned out to be Chinese knockoffs, or worse, compromised with hidden backdoors.

POLACK, do you recall that one down in Florida?...

The aircraft carrier and it's compliment of other war ships reported to be "steaming" to coast of NK served it's purpose, fooled everyone, but most likely had a small chore to deal with prior to actually going in that direction. It is now and am sure others will be stationed there as well and the available air power it vital, but what lurks under the surface is even more deadly if required and rest assured you will never know their locations or intentions for if you did know and revealed same, not a bright future for you.

US Deploys Two More Aircraft Carriers Toward Korean Peninsula: Yonhap

By Tyler Durden
Created 04/18/2017 - 04:53

According to a report by South Korea's primary news outlet, Yonhap [4], the Pentagon has directed a total of three US aircraft carriers toward the Korean Peninsula, citing a South Korean government source.

Yonhap reports that in addition to the CVN-70 Carl Vinson, which is expected to arrive off the South Korean coast on April 25, the CVN-76 Ronald Reagan - currently in home port in Yokosuka, Japan - and the CVN-68 Nimitz carrier group - currently undergoing final pre-deployment assessment [5], Composite Training Unit Exercise off Oregon - will enter the Sea of Japan next week. According to the senior government official. the US and South Korea are discussing joint drills, which will include the three aircraft carriers and other ships.

USS Carl Vinson, surrounded by a fleet of US warships, was sent by Washington toward the Korean Peninsula in the beginning of April.

While details are scarce, and we would urge confirmation from US-based sources, Yonhap also reports that according to the government source the operation of three aircraft carriers in the same location is unusual, and demonstrates the US commitment to North Korea. Other sources said the Trump administration is demonstrating deterrence by acting on its behalf. "We expect it to be completely different from the previous administration."

On Sunday, Pyongyang launched an unidentified projectile, but the test reportedly failed. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) stated that the attempted launch was conducted from the area near North Korea's eastern port city of Sinpo, but likely ended in a failure.

Yeah... sorry it ain't likely it's going to happen. More likely a pipeline will get built in Syria then we go into China's backyard. War is waged on the behest of finance and no way is China going to let that man boy in North Korea screw with all the work it's done consolidating markets and trade Partnerships in its sphere of influence. I have a feeling China is going to intervene on NK before too long. Heck knows we should go in there but who is it going to benefit?

We thought the Russians were " behind the times" when we found vacuum tubes in some of their comm gear. Seems the further ahead we go the behinder we get.
They were prepared for emp. We on the other hand put all of our eggs in one basket and have set ourselves up for problems.

My faith and trust in our military prowess is the simple fact that President Trump is passing on to the Senior Commanders(read General Officers) full authority for military action as they see fit for a given situation. Our Nation spends huge amount of funds educating, training, developing the finest military minds in the world and those folks are more than willing and able to take such action when necessary. The best of these Senior Officers see to it that the same training and dedication is passed down through the lower ranks and that is what makes our military deemed as "professionals" at what they do. Our enemies forget that the U.S. does not go to war to capture land masses, take the wealth(as in oil,)** imprison the population, but to seek and destroy those trying to harm America. If left as it should be to the professionals, the job will get done or as often stated, mission accomplished.

** Now if someone would have asked me about Iraq about the oil fields I would have said paint all the oil rigs red, white, and blue and take the oil to defray the cost of military action, but of course no one asked me and not likely will in the future either.
