New Navy ship to be named after----------------

The administration has decided to name a new Navy ship:

USS HARVEY MILK

As a Navy vet I withhold any comment as my words might be considered "offensive" to some folks.

Thanks from kabanchik and USN14

Oh for crying out loud, have named a vessel after every MOH winner yet from the Navy or Corps? How about we do that first, enough of the Giffords and other nonsense. Lets remember and honor REAL heroes first!

Fleet oilers, if memory serves. The John Lewis class, named after that POS Congressmcritter from Georgia. Politically correct naval vessels, all named after civil 'rights' 'leaders'. I can hardly wait until the Navy has to name a fleet carrier after Obozo.

No, Luigi, IT is supposed to be an oiler. Maybe better than vaseline-don't know, never been there. I'm with you,7for1. Of course, the SecNav is all for it. What can we expect from this administration. At what point do we say "Enough is enough"?

"I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but Ican do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do. What I can do, I should do. And what I should do, by the grace of God, I will do." -Edward Everett Hale.

If I was assigned to that vessel I'd be UA. I'm disgusted.

Read about it in yesterdays paper. Navy says that he was first an enlisted man then an officer. However, I do agree with Puccini, and I'll withhold comment. -Lloyd

USS Harvey Milk

Well, heres a few things to consider.

I would surmise that it would be the ship of dreams for every navy person of that persuasion.

It would be hell for any hetero sailor that has to pony up to a veterans club bar and is asked what ship he served on. Worse than me being a Navy airdale member of the local Marine Corps League.

Port calls and open tours will be REAL interesting.

Will the ship be required to have bathroom of your choice requirement like
they do for schools and such?

I am looking forward to seeing the ships plaque and shoulder patch.
Rainbow??????

Speaking of that, since the white house has flown the rainbow flag will the
ship be authorized (or required) to do the same?

As much as the Navy tries to keep it quiet, it's common knowledge that hanky-panky goes on all the time on board ships on deployment. Not sure how it's going to go on the USS Harvey Milk.

Thanks from kabanchik
