SEAL shoots self, WTF?!

http://news.yahoo.com/police-navy-se...022731883.html

Quote:
Cali says the man was showing guns to a woman he'd met earlier at a bar and put a pistol he believed was unloaded to his head. Cali says he then pulled the trigger.
I think there's something wrong here. SEAL's should be smarter than this. He's either a drunk fish or the media screwed something here. I'd believe an attempted suicide because of PTSD but nothing this stupid.

Anyone else find a better story?

Stupid visits all walks of life, generally unannounced.

Certainly hope he recovers.

The clue was, he met this gal in a bar. I'd be interested as to what his BAC level was at the time of the incident.

Just goes to show that gunpowder and alcohol still doesn't mix, regardless of your skill level.

You can't fix stupid and even SEALS let stupid through there course. Feel bad for the guy but I look at this as natural selection.

And back when we were 13-15 yr olds, . . . we rode our bikes "no hands" to impress the new little redhead down the block.

His trick just has a whole lot more permanent results than the scab I got on my knee when I wrecked.

May God bless,
Dwight

If it wan't for this, I would think he was a poser SEAL, trying to impress some girl:

Quote:
In a statement, Commodore Collin Green says the Naval Special Warfare community is saddened by the incident and extends "our hearts and prayers" to the family in this difficult time.
Still seems a bit odd to me. Just guessing here, but after having read no shortage of books about different SEALs, and their stories, I would imagine the guy isn't a rookie at drinking at the bar and picking up a woman. Who knows. Maybe she put a few mickies in his drink so she could get some SEAL lovin, and he was way out of it or something. If it's true, you really have to wonder what this guy could have been thinking. That might be just the kind of screwup that gets you kicked right out of the teams, if he even recovers.

Hope he recovers well.

I don't think that I could get drunk enough to stick a pistol to my head and pull the trigger just to impress some bimbo that I'd just picked up in a honky tonk.

Hell, he already had her back at his pad, what was he thinking? The truth being, that he wasn't thinking.

He should've been concentrating on using his own gun on the girl, instead of playing with a dumb pistol.

By the way, pun intended with the gun comment... :)

Guys to be honest, usually a head shot is a mortal wound, but there are exceptions such as Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords from Arizona. At the very best the SEAL might end up comatose on a ventilator for the rest of his life.

Back in the 80s when I worked SWAT they taught us at advanced SWAT school that there was a 2" band around the eyes where a solid hit in that area of the head, would be like turning off a light switch.

A bad guy could be holding a hostage with a knife to the hostages throat and a police sniper could put a round into that 2" band on the perps head and the BG would never know what hit him. Supposedly the bad guy would just crumple to the ground dead before he ever got there, leaving the hostage unharmed.
