I would probably do it on a competition rifle just so I wouldnt be able to blame my poor skills on the "not breaking in". I would have won the comp buuuut I didn't brake in the barrel....lol

Welcome aboard, the funny thing is that when you talk to most Scout owners, they really like this rifle. I have shot the living daylights out of mine with all different types of ammo suitable for it and am quickly finding it to be one of my favorite shooters.

Good luck with yours!

I am no gun expert because this is the only semi-auto .308 that I own other than handguns and AR's.......but the pleasure of shooting this compared to the 5.56 AR's it's not even comparable. This feels like a battle rifle (never been in battle...lol). So much power....and the iron sights are so good too. I can't wait to go to an outdoor range to shoot! I love it....definitely feels like a 1,600$ rifle.

Now you really get it. People don't understand until they shoot one. I had a half dozen ARs when I got my m1a now I have one AR and working on my second m14.

I've got another question. I noticed that the Gas Piston does not move as smooth as I would expect it while doing the tilt test but the store I bought the rifle from told me that it is normal and this happens because I havent shot the rifle enough. Sounds a little weird to me.....I would imagine the contrary. Moves very well in the beginning and then starts to get worst and worst....suggestions? Thank you in advance

Gets worse as you shoot it? While you are shooting the rifle it gets hot things slow down a bit. Does it function? Has it ever been cleaned?

I mean....the piston moves back and forth but not as nicely as in the videos I see of the 45 degree incline test. Then....If I manually move it and repeat the test it's smoother. The gun runs great so far. I never cleaned the gas piston because it's a new rifle....I didn't think I should get to screw with that so early in the life of the rifle.

I would shoot it 400-500 rounds then give it a good cleaning. The videos are most likely of a well used rifle that is spotless. As long as she functions don't mess with her to much. Only thing I will say is take the gas plug out and put a very small a out or grease on the threads only and reinstall. KEEP THE PISTON DRY. HTH.
