Anyone use this case?

I am looking at buying a Boyt H48
http://www.gandermountain.com/modper...-Case&i=617469

Based on the reviews I am not sure if my rifle would fit (Ebr with scope). I would love a Pelican, but way out of my price range for a case. I have a Gander mtn 40 minutes north of me and a Bass pro equal distance south so I have some options if any other cases would be recommended.

I used the search and read a couple of the older posts on cases, and some of the links didnt work anymore or the cases cost too much (want to be around 150 max).

Thanks

Never used that one, there was a big discussion on this awhile back. A lot of guys really like the Plano if not flying with it. They can be found on sale sometimes for $100, same price as this one normally. Search gun cases shouldn't take you long to find it wasn't that long ago.

Plano is ok to fly with. It's the 20 dollar jobs that flex in a breeze you don't want to let Bob the Baggage Tosser getting his hands on.

I have been racking up miles on range trips out of town lately and finally invested in a pelican. Not sure if Plano does it but my pelican has alarmed every time it goes through the scanner, so I don't bother locking it up till the tsa is through with it.

I have not had the Boyt case -
What I do know is that the most indestructible cases I have encountered are the ones made by Star Light Cases.

I have my father-in-law's old boyt soft case for his .300WM that's fairly well made. Boyt does make quality stuff.

Assuming that their hard cases are as well made as their older soft cases... it should be ok.

That looks pretty good, though I don't know how it would compare to a pelican. I used to work in the freight business. In San Angelo, just before opening weekend, I saw rifles being unloaded off of a passenger plane as I was walking around it. One, in a silver case, fell off the conveyor belt directly onto the tarmac. A distance of about 8 feet. In the very least, that guy had some zeroing ahead of him, assuming it was scoped. I think of that every time I think about shipping a rifle.
I'd take measurements off your rifle and go have a look at it. Thick, solid plastic and clamps with a lot of foam, no flex, good waterproof seal is ideal.

I have that exact case. Got it on sale for $90 with free shipping. Great case very strong and comparable to a pelican. Much nicer than Planos offering. Steel latches are a win too. I only gripe is that it isn't wide enough for a scoped rifle with a pistol grip (ar15, Sage).

I feel it's perfect for a m1a and accessories.

If you plan to get it from Gandor Mountain, be quick since they just filed for bankruptcy protection in the last day or so.

I would agree with this, I know you say that this is more than you would like to spend but you get what you pay for, and as you have a very nice rifle, it makes sense to keep it safe and stored properly. I have a 1750 for mine and would not go any other direction.

Storm 3300 looks like a strong contender to the pelican
