The RUMOR of the Sage being heavy is getting old and is usually spread by people who haven't used one. Usually someone installs the stock and then adds a big heavy variable power scope, some crazy complex bipod, and scope mount. That is where the weight comes from.

My mod 1 with a loaded 10 rd cali mag is less then 10 lbs with irons and just under 12 with the eotech. My mod o with irons came in at just under 11 with irons, and balloons to under 14 with scope.

The platform it self is not heavy. Its all the crap people put on it after they place the action in it.
This. My rifle is heavy... but I have a 6x24x50 on top as well. No bipod. As long as i am not lugging it around it is not a big deal. Get a good sling.

Why? You can just put something in to block the mag release and run a 10 round magazine, perfectly legal.

True, but life in cali is expensive, especially for a young kid like me who has a taste for expensive rifles. Its either my SCAR or my Sage. Ones gotta go. Honeymoon coming up too.
