Hi,
I'm happy and want the XM21 SAGE build.

Just thought the little red dot as a safety and also as a 50yds. or less USEFUL option!

I had my eyes wide open when I bought the XM-21 receiver and bolt and happy that it was available at a fair price I could afford!!!

Go with the 45 degree mount! Mount it forward of the XM21 on the Sage chassis. You'll be able to maintain cheek weld while you tilt the rifle at about 30+ degrees for your shot. Very fast and a proven solution!

Leon McKee

P.S. I'll be doing the exact same thing with my Sage based Bula XM21's. 45 degree mount with 3 MOA Red Dot.

You might also consider iron sights on a set of 45-degree mounts. If I absolutely needed a backup sight, I wouldn't want to worry about the charge state of its batteries.

Hi,
What is nice bout the red dot is if you put the dot on the target and pull the trigger...

The bullet is going there!

I have a Aimpoint M2 Military red dot on myAR-15 and it is excellent!!!

Your trying to use it for something it's not designed to be used for. It's designed for scopes use only. Go with m25, M1a, or m14 if you want multi purpose use.

Better yet, use an AR.

I'm kind of keen on the XM21 scope-only option. I already have one iron sighted M14, and my next one will be scope only, mostly because I specifically want to shoot long-range with it.

I've never had a scope fail all of a sudden either (but I'm careful), so I'll trade off the diversity of having iron sights for the advantage of a lower and more solid scope mount.

But I still keep eyeing that M21DMR. Hell, I may change my mind before the next rifle gets built anyway LOL!

I've had no experience with the XM21 receivers so this is more of a question. If you put the Bula receiver in a Sage chassis, you end up with a continuous rail correct? isn't that the same as an AR? If so, couldn't you use AR type BUIS and mount your primary optic using a quick release mount like the Larue or BoBro. This wouldn't give you the ability to use both simultaneously, but would allow back up iron sights.

Jgun that's actually not a bad idea you've got.
