Following the information I saw here I was able to do the same thing on my SAI Scout:

The hand guard came off real easy, pops right off without having to remove gas cylinder, you can use a small screw driver or nail set to pry the hand guard clip out of the groove on each side.

The front scope mount comes right off, no problem at all.

It took me a while, but I went through the transition of USGI full length hand guard, full length new fiberglass reinforced hand guard, and they finally did what I should of done in the beginning:

Full length Walnut hand guard. I got a really nice finished walnut hand guard with hand guard clip installed from treelineM14. It is a Boyd's and dropped right in.

Wow, it looks great, and like I said, it was easy thanks to the guys on the forum. I am computer illiterate so I do not post pictures, but others here have so you will be able to see how nice their rifles look with the USGI, New fiberglass hand guard and a walnut one.

HTH.

Thanks from Wasted ammo

I took mine off and replaced it with:

I did use clip pliers to remove the clip from my Scout guard, and place it on the new part.

Took the rail off, hand guard came from midway usa, scope mount is a bassett. Now considering going to a 22 inch barrel
