Yes, it was wrapped in the blue plastic, but repeated handling by shipping personnel didn't serve it well. The case it came in was marketed as a nice case, but i wasn't really impressed. My M1A came in a far superior padded range bag.

My mag was not even in a bloody bag, just loose, thrown in right next to the stock! Rifle came in a new hard case which is good but some hammerhead drone just tossed a mag in and closed it up for shipping. Be better to just insert it in the rifle, but suppose that would be a violation of something or other..

Latest info from JRA, rifle with new Bula barrel and bolt ready to return. Just need to call with CC info to pay for the return shipping. Really? I asked them if they thought that was proper, but after a few hours of no reply I called and gave it to them. Not going to delay this any further over a squabble about shipping. But in my view they should not have asked and just shipped it home. When the fault of the discrepancy in the Classic listing falls on JRA and Classic they should rightfully cover shipping costs both ways. Classic to their credit did refund the shipping to get it back to JRA, I thought JRA would respond in kind. Guess not...

Just everyone do your selves a favor and order directly from Chris or Jeff. Both are stand up men producing quality firearms.

WaM14gunner, do you mind if I post my experience here with my return to JRA? I'll probably create a separate post with photos but figured it'd be another data point for folks...

Well my full write-up is here: My First M14 - JRA Rockola 19.25"

I placed an order with Classic for a 19.25" Rockola M14 and I got a few surprises just like WaM14gunner, some good and some bad. First my barrel was different than the description indicated, this was a good surprise though. My barrel was a Bula 19.25" National Match variety instead of the Criterion USGI profile that was advertised. Second surprise was the fact that the mag the rifle came with would not fit into the rifle, there wasnt any draw pressure to be found, and the trigger group come come in and out of the rifle without any resistance what-so-ever. All of this I attributed to an issue with the stock as it seemed to be compressed (thanks to Wes for some helping troubleshooting!). Last small issue was I saw a little corrosion had started on a couple trigger components, not a huge deal I wouldn't think but I pointed it out anyways to JRA when I called them. JRA immediately sent me a prepaid label and I sent the rifle in to them. Fast forward a few weeks (holidays probably slowed them down) and I got my rifle on Friday the 13th, scary I know! Anyway got in last night at 3AM from a work trip and as soon as I walked in I had to check out the rifle.

Verdict, JRA Rockola appears to be sporting a much nicer stock than the first one! Trigger assembly actually has a smidgen of resistance now when trigger loop is pushed down, mag that came with the rifle originally fits if you really slam it home (I'll have to mess with the mags a little) and overall rifle just looks better too! I was slightly bummed they didnt swap out the trigger assembly so I wouldn't have to clean the couple tiny spots of rust off of it but they didnt, seems like small issue I would think? Oh and they threw in an extra mag.... not sure if that was on purpose or accident but it was locked in the rifle when it arrived and its an appreciated extra little surprise!

Overall I am now VERY happy with my rifle. I might have to clean the couple tiny spots of rust myself and I might have to work on the rifle a bit more to make sure it has the correct draw pressure, but overall its a great looking piece and I'm sure it'll shoot great once I fiddle with it some.

That was long winded but overall I'd say my summary is JRA took care of me and I appreciate it!

Thanks from XM25Ren

Is there a lot of slop in the op rod? Mine rattled around a lot and I mentioned it when I returned my rifle. Hope they address that. Yours looks good!

Not being an M14 veteran I'll answer your question with a question! haha

I imagine op-rod should be solid when bolt is forward, is there where you had slop? Or should I shake the rifle when the bolt is locked back?

I tried shaking the rifle around in the air when I had bolt locked back and all I feel moving is what I believe to be the piston in the gas system? Just feels like something sliding smoothly back and forth, not a rattle.

I mean when its forward. Grasp the handle and move it up and down. Mine had lots of play in it and I compared it to my LRB and other 2 SAI guns which had no play or very little.

Mine has a little bit of play, and I don't have anything to compare it to, but it doesn't seem to move an excessive amount. I'd say 1/8" in either direction or less. Tonight when the kids go to bed I'll check it out a little more.

I would say that much is no problem. Mine had 3 times that much which seemed excessive to me at least.

Kind of random, but the CMI mag that my rifle came with is nearly impossible to lock into the rifle. It takes an absurd amount of pressure to engage it. I haven't noticed any issues with my other CMI mags though thankfully.

The folks at JRA said the latest shipment of CMI mags were made "oversized". My rifle also has a hard time accepting these new mags, I have to SLAM it home to get it to lock in and my older CMI mags work fine as well. Kind of disappointing... I was told you can smack the top of the mags with something to get them back to nominal size but it seems crazy this step would be needed. I'm going to post this question on the 44Mag forum to see what they say is the preferred method to correct the oversized mags that CMI recently made.
