Your story reminds me of the tale of the poop flavored lollipop... doesn't seem to serve a purpose and just ends up stinking up the place.

I'm sure the guy wouldnt want Vette payments. If you order something specific you expect to get that same item regardless.

Bit of an update. JRA says in fact the barrel will be a Bula and not a Criterion as Classic had stated. Said it was always a Bula barrel and bolt on the rifles. Mine had GI barrel and bolt. JRA should ensure that Classic gets the advertisement correct. Right now its part right. JRA is waiting for a batch of barrels for this week and said mine (may) ship out next week.

Mine also came with loose parts (sight pinions were sloppy) and a chip in the butt plate from the CMI mag sliding around. Not an issue to me as the rest of the rifle was absolutely beautiful. Standard 22" with HR-N trigger, op-rod, bula bolt. Was VERY harsh on brass when chambering for a while. Was a jam-o-matic with lake city surplus for the first 120 rounds. Now it feeds with no problem (maybe just a break-in period)? Now its my favorite rifle and very accurate/consistent. On a side note, my email to JRA was completely ignored... not sure why, but the problem resolved itself.

I am glad you got that sorted out. Hopefully, their follow through will go smoothly.

That's been my my recent experience with JRA. I'm delighted your issue has resolved itself.

My 19.25" Rockola from Classic came to me sporting a NM Bula barrel... I was very happy with that!

Let us know how your rifle shoots when you get it. It's odd Bula is using the archaic chrome lining in their barrels... IMO melonite is a far superior finish in every way.

Except the rifle barrel should be broken in first, then treated.
Most barrel mfgs. will supply chrome lined barrels. Not really archaic if it works.
I have one from JYWolfe on the way for Monday for a project.

We've nitrided many barrels with interesting results. Due to the design of the M14, the nitriding process presents a few peripheral issues I don't really want to go into here. I think there is a future for the melonite process in our barrels somehow, but for several reasons I am not pursuing it at the moment. We offered chrome lined barrels because there was a demand in the market for them. The M14 has many traditionalist followers that want a product honest to the original. There's certainly room for both!

The barrel would have made me less than happy, considering that a new one is what was paid for.

But leaving the magazine to rattle around the case in inexcusable. It would take less than a minute to put it in a bag or to something to secure it.

I cannot count how many times I have received something that ended up with some sort of damage because someone was careless with packaging.

Thanks from Jeff42899 and WaM14gunner
