I've been wanting a Scout forever. One came up local with a walnut stock, I like wood. Went and picked it up today and what a beauty. I cannot find any wear anywhere on anything. The grease is dried up, this thing hasn't been shot in years if ever. Looks like manufactured in 2004. All 4 mags that came with it were still in the bags. Got a pleasant surprise to find a HR-N trigger group in it. Getting ready to break out the tung oil. All my others have optics, this one will not. This will be my grab and go rifle.
Take the scout rail off and put a GI hand guard on if your not going to scope it. Makes the rifle look better. Plus the scout rail heats up really fast and can distort your sight picture with it getting so hot when you use iron sites.
Congrats and excellent choice with the walnut stock.
Pathetic, I know, but today was the first day I could take it to the range. Shot about 100 flawless rounds. No scope on this one, only open sights, shot at 100 yards from the bench and a bipod using cheap Q3130. After a half dozen rounds to dial in 100 yard zero it literally chewed a hole in the center of the target, easily 2 moa which tickles me since its been so long since I shot with open sights. Such a good time even though it was 29 degrees out.
