SA M1A Red Dot Mount?

Does anyone have any information on this mount? Looks like it's an option on the SOCOM 16 CQB.

SA calls it their "(Stripper) Clip Guide Red Dot Mount." I see a few cryptic references to it on the SA site, but not much anywhere else. Can it be purchased separately? Any info on them would be appreciated.

1. You can sort of see a picture of it >> here << (it shows the optic attached, but can't really see the mount itself)

2. And this >> page << has a paragraph that says the following:

Quote:
An Enviable SIGHT BASE

The engineers at Springfield designed a really innovative sight base thatís mounted into the stripper clip guide. This base is designed to use the small, mini, red-dot sights that are commonplace on firearms today. The optic sight is now low enough that it allows a perfect cheek weld for me. There's no need for adjustable cheek pieces or add-on risers.

Springfield offers the M1A CQB with or without the optical red-dot sight package. The rifle does everything you want and adds very little weight or size to the overall package.

IIRC, I think SAI uses that $400.00 Vortex Razor Red Dot on the Sage stripper clip mount (about a $50.00 item). Possibly other Red Dots will fit.

There are SEVERAL low cost red dot optics that I have in mind. The question that I have is how does the optic mount to the mounting plate

The Burris FF2 has it own picatinny LOW PROFILE mount. Most of the other Red Dot Reflex Sight just have a FLAT bottom and need to be attached to some sort of an adaptor plate.

See the attached link: http://www.opticsplanet.com/reviews/...tml?_iv_page=4

I really want a Red Dot Reflex Sight that sits low enough that I can CO WITENSS the iron sight of the SOCOM.

SO,,,,,,,,,, Where can I fins a very low profile mounting bracket that screws onto the optic and clamps on to that picatinny rail

Thanks

Bill

The TruGlow TruBrite multi-reticle/dual color open red dot sight has an integral Weaver / picatinny mount. They are relatively inexpensive and have a good reputation. It is low and I doubt it will co-witness the the iron sights because of its direct mounting to the rail. HTH

that sure doesn't look like something with a picatinny rail on it on the SA site. It looks way to low to the mount to be anything but screwed directly to it.

The mini-rail from Sage:

The Razor clamps on the rail:

It is a small, compact set-up.

Every one of those vortex red dots have a tension screw on the right of the site.
The one on the springfield mount doesn't, and if you look at the picture, the site on the mount is missing the bottom half of that vortex venom red dot that's on the vortex website.

springfield's website also says that they are the ones who designed the scope mount.

so I'm still going to say that it's direct mount.

You may well be right, sir. I don't know enough about them to argue the point.

How's "Big H" these days? I'm sure it's grown since I was there.

it's Huge and overcrowded, but lots of good burger and BBQ joints make up for it.

I have the rifle and the mount/venom, but have taken them off for now. I'm currently Salmon/Steelhead fishing, but if you have specific questions I can take a look when I get home?

the CQB sight is the Vortex Venom and anchors to the stripper clip guide.

As red dots have unlimited eye relief, won't they work on the Scout rail?
