There was a problem with the durability of the multicam finish and it is no longer available.

When I was at the SHOT Show last month, the Springfield rep said that the mount was still a prototype. I had asked him if they were selling the mount as an accessory part.

Knowing Springfield, they will probably not sell it as an accessory part thinking it would cut into their sales of the CQB; that would be a huge mistake, although I thought someone else was already making one. I seem to remember pictures of a rifle set up like this sometime in the last five years. Oh, yeah here we go:

Red dot on socom 16 stripper clip.

Sage clip guide mount

At least two companies already make them (I can't recall who they are though), plus a few more make the ones that replace the rear sight, which IMO is a better system.

Yes, that is what I intended. Stand alone, it still can be used as a mount. Say for like a small red dot (Burris Fastfire). If you have a rail like an Ultimak or Socom then it wont align properly with it.

Look at the links KyAggie posted earlier in the thread.

M14.CA makes a wide range of mounts, including scout style raised handguards and a micro red dot (MRD) mount that fits SOLIDLY into the rear sight pocket. Check out their site for more info on some of the various options. A micro red dot can be mounted LOW forward on theIr Scout hand guard, and CO-WITNESS with the existing M14 iron sights, or mounted HIGH forward to co-witness with a scope mounted above the receiver.

I personally prefer my red dot mounted as far forward as possible, which gives a much more open sight picture for fast multiple target shooting.

Thanks from Kazz and innocent bystander

I'd like to know if you can co-witness the irons with the Springfield product or any of the other clip guide mounts for that matter.
