I have a Leupold 4x pistol I took off my TC contender with the Warne low mount QD rings. Havn't had a chance to try it out at the range yet.
I do not need a cheek riser with this setup. I will let you know when I do get to range, hopefully when and if it ever warms up here........
Mossy,

I used a leatherwood Hi-Lux 2-7x32 with leupold QR rings. I zeroed at 100 yards no problem, I mounted it on the pic rail up front and the long eye relief of this scope is great!

The quality isn't as high as the Leupold, but neither is the price. I have owned both, but currently use the Hi-lux for its magnification.

After researching a bit, I put one of these on my SOCOM at the recommendation of RAMMAC http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-fo...c-reticle.html
Taking the rear dust cover off and/or modifying it for clearance, but worked great with low mount rings: |

Thats a nice looking rig. I have two bolt gun scouts, I really like the fast target pick up of these setups.
I was going to buy a Socom 16 to go along with my M1A Super Match but made the mistake of wanting to pick one up after the first of the year. I didn't fore see the gun sale spikes following the horrible tragedy of Sandy Hook.
I am hoping that after a couple of months things/prices will settle down.

Oh, and while you're at it, if you tell the Custom Shop what bullet you are shooting and your MV, they will install a custom BDC elevation turret. |

i was just looking at SWFA, and they have a couple of very interesting variations of the Leupold Scout scope available.
Apparently if you are SWFA and you can buy probably 1000 scopes at once you can have Leupold make just about anything you want.
They have a 1.5-4x28 VX-II Leupold Scout, and a very interesting 1.5-5x33 VX-R Scout, 30mm tube, with illuminated red dot. Yikes, I'm afraid that might be the ultimate IER Scout scope right there. http://swfa.com/Leupold-15-5x33-VX-R...pe-P51466.aspx |

I ran a few rounds through my scout today. It's got a leupold 2.5X scout scope on it. Was shooting 450 yards at a 16" gong. The rifle is zero'd at 200 yards, @ 450 I had to hold the point of the bottom duplex on the gong to hit it.
Even managed to hit it once offhand.
