Wow thats a sharp gun, do the entry level m1a's with perfectly tuned ammo shoot sub moa. I am all for saving and getting high end stuff but I know there are things that just aren't worth the additional money. Please excuse my ignorance on this topic I am an ar and bolt guy.

-Nicky | Not that I'm aware of. You'll be doing well to get that kind of accuracy out of a $3k custom M1A. However, a well built rifle will put 10 rds into a Minute all day long! For practical purposes, that's more than adequate.

As far as accuracy before and after goes, I don't think the Archangel makes the rifle more accurate in the same way a Sage, JAE, or McMillan does. I think the stock offers much improved ergonomics for bench and prone shooting with a scope, which allows YOU to shoot the rifle more accurately. It really is a joy to shoot with, and my groups did improve, but as I said earlier, I think this has more to do with improved ergonomics.
The rifle is slightly heavier in the Archangel stock, but not too much. It currently weighs about 12-13lbs with the Nikon Monarch 4-16x50 SF Scope and CASM mount.

I always use Brownells Alumahyde II. If you cure it properly it hardens well and has a really tough finish. I've purposely thrown around several AR's that I painted with Alumahyde just to see if I can get it to scratch or crack and haven't had any marks yet.

It's great stuff; easy to apply, prep is fairly straight forward, and when properly cured it's tough as nails. Just make sure the air fairly warm when you spray it and give it a week or longer to cure.
Not the greatest pic, but I did this Steyr Mountain rifle with it, and it turned out great!
As far as putting a scout in the Archangel goes, I doubt it'd be an issue. Should have plenty of clearance for the Scout mount.

Since these pics were taken we've moved on to a basset mounted scope. I've found the Archangel to be slightly more accurate, but slightly heavier.
If it were up to me and I was the only one shooting the wood just feels better, feels smooth, smells better, feels more 'alive'. I'd find the perfect cheek rest and enjoy.
Unfortunately I've been cursed with a girl who can roll the cheek rest up 4-5 clicks and rock the zombie targets, so I'm stuck with the plastic for now.
It's not a JAE, it's not a Sage, but we're enjoying it for now. My Scout in Her CA Compliant Archangel |
