Going to need some help...

Today I pulled apart my Sage Mod 1 to adjust the dummy kit a little since the op rod was just touching the connector arm when all the way back. I got the adjustments made, all was well, putting it back together, and a screw head to one of the kydex hand guards strips. Crap. So I try using a torx bit. Crap. So I try slotting it. Crap. So I resort to drilling the damn thing out. Well that got it, but it messed up the hand guard in the process. I'm actually a bit pissed with Sage since this one screw doesn't match the other three (all marked "YFS 304") as it's unmarked and seems really soft. I've actually stripped allen bits with the other three screws and they look brand new.

Basically now I need a new kydex hand guard and a new screw. I've e-mailed Sage to get the part numbers and cost as well as asking about the YFS 304 screws, but I already know they won't ship to CA. So I'm going to need to have these shipped to someone outside of CA whom can forward them to me. I'll pay the shipping of course and a little for your trouble.

For now I'm waiting to find out how much I'm going to be raped for these parts, but I want to have things lined up so I can get this going since I'm supposed to go shooting in the near future.

I could get them ordered from a local shop, but last time I did that they forgot about the stuff for two weeks so it took about a month to get.

Send me a PM if you're interested in helping out.

Thanks.

I have one of those kits too, just couldn't find it. I got the screw out and the chassis is fine. I only drilled the head of the screw off (lots of practice removing rivets for helmet chin straps). Then I pulled off the hand guard and removed the rest of the screw by hand. No worries there, just need a new screw and kydex piece since the one I have got damaged removing the screw.

Just want to say thank you to Bad Mojo who helped me out with getting the parts and to all those who offered to help.

I got the parts this past weekend, dropped in the FACC (Full Auto Cutout Cover), painted the hand guards and am waiting for them to cure (Alumahyde II). I should have it back together next weekend it looks like.

Sage sent "YFS" marked screws this time so I'm happy about that. I ordered six new screws; I installed four of them and will keep the other two and the three good take off screws as spares.

The new hand guards seem to fit a bit better and the holes for the screws are larger so the screws pass through them instead of having to be threaded through them.

The FACC is just a drop in piece that is held in by the receiver. They only come in black, but beats having a gaping hole by the trigger group. Oddly the top is still left fairly open, but then again with all the holes in the Sage I don't see it as a big deal.

I'm going to play with the dummy kit some and see about installing it again in the future, but for now the FACC does the job of filling the larger of the two holes just fine.

As a side note, I found my stripped screw/nut removal kit and put it in a more accessible place in case the need arises again.
